Tractor
Yanmar 4300
I used to have a website that told me what weight oil and what transmission fluid I should use, but I ended up losing it. So I asked the dealer I got my tractor off of and they said just use whatever... sounded like they didn't even care to help and hung up on me. I don't want to put something in there that might mess up my tractors.

I have 2 tractors both yanmars ones a 1500d 2wd without a loader. I want to change the engine oil and tranmission fluid and need to know how much for both.

Then I have a 4300 yanmar 4x4 with a loader. I have to change the knuckle seals and need to know what type of fluid to put back into the 4x4 caseing and how much.

I know I sound like a dumb butt and all but id rather be safe then sorry and make sure im doing it right Thanks alot for any help.

Can't help with how much. You should have a dip stick . just put some in & check. My 3110 holds a little over 5 gallons of HYD fluid. Hyd fluid should meet JD 303 specs. Any 15w40 diesel rated engine oil 75w 80 or 90 wt gear oil tor the front gears

the 1500 barely holds 4 litres of engine oil, a good 15/40 diesel oil is fine, the trans/hydraulic holds about 14 litres so a trans/hydraulic oil is required for this (JD 303 or equivalent). the front diff uses 90wt. as for quantities of oils for the 4300 probably double the 1500s quantities........

I use Amsoil 15/40 in all of mine and their top trans fluid for the rear/trans/hydraulics (Torque-Drive).

Lengthens oil changes and gives a little extra protection with thermal breakdown.

I notice my YM336D service manual recommends 30wt (and only 30wt) for anything above 50F. It doesn't even mention 15w-40.

Is 15w-40 new? Is it a safe replacement for straight 30wt?

All the XxY type oils are newer than the tractor. 30w oil is old technology. A good synthetic will allow you to run a thinner weight oil whilre still protecting the engine.

Hy-Gard is a newer, better quality Deere specification that replaces JD303. In our old Yanmars, the only difference is Hy-Gard doesn't get as thick in cold weather so the tractor warms up faster. (And it may be more expensive than JD303).

Here is a discussion with some name-brands that may be available in Chile - Shell, Chevron, etc.

Substitute for John Deere Hy-Gard J20D? - Bob Is The Oil Guy

Here in the US there are store-label brands that are less expensive than those name-brands. You might find that in Chile also. If the container says 'JD303' that should be sufficient.

Thanks for the advise, I find the Hy-Guard hydraolic oil in the JD store, it is expensive but it make the trick and I am sure it will work.
I bought my tractor about a month a go, I change the oil of the engine and filter, also I change the fuel filter, but I left behind the transmition for the future.
The filters I find in Chile are:
Oil : Mann W811/80
Air : Mann C1430 it is a little bigger in the outside diameter, the center diameter it is ok and the hight it seal good because is rubber and a beat high from the original
Fuel: Fleetguard FF5260

Thanks, .
