LS R4041EZ
I am coming up on my 50 hour maintenance for my R4041EZ. I was just wondering if anyone that has already done this has any tips, hints or suggestions? Is the manual clear? Any tricky access issues?
Let's hear your stories.

I knocked three good sized holes in the back of my hand when the engine oil filter wrench slipped three times. I wound up driving a long spike through it and got it loosened with that. It seems that they paint the original filter onto the engine. The dealer mechanic tells me the subsequent filters don't stick, but noted that the first one usually does. After I got the filter changed, I ground the corners round on the muffler mount and rounded their edges too.

I have a long handled strap wrench that worked great on the hydraulic filter.

The greasing comes up every 50 hours. The book says to give it, "the proper amount." I asked at the dealer and didn't get that narrowed down much. I guess if there is trouble, I used too much or not enough.

I'm well past my third 50 already.

Check to see if you have two oil drain plugs (you likely will) for the engine oil. My manual only metioned one but I had two due to the shape of the oil pan.
If you decide to change the transhyraulic oil ata 50 hrs, there are two plugs there also. I used a hand pump to get as much as possible out because I didn't have a 7 gallon drain pan.

Good info guys...thanks. I will try to score the oil filter around the lip and see if that helps get it come off easier. If not...spike it is.
I also don't have a 7 gallon drain pan but I usually have some 5 gallon containers of some sort. I will just keep the plug handy and do the stop start method.
My manual is at the farm...does it illustrate the drain plugs or do we "look n see?"

I would take a look and find the drain plugs using a good "questioning attitude" as we say where I work. My only real complaint with LS is the inaccuracy and inconsistency of my owners manual. Speaking of that, one more thing; I would do some type of rough measurement of the oil volume that you drain. My manual called for 7 quarts in one place and 4.5 in another. Turns out it was 4.5 after measuring what I had drained.

I have a 7010 and when I did 50 hr filter change I couldn't believe how tight the hydraulic filter was, I was warned by dealer that for some reason the filters are over-tightened. The next change won't be so difficult as they are installed not so tight.

I too had problems getting some of the filters off, a rubber strap wrench worked the best. Also when I went to replace the fuel filter, the manual said to loosen the drain plug and drain the fuel from the filter, after 5min. I realized it was draining from the tank.A pair of channel locks on the fuel line took care of the problem, but i think i will put a shut-off valve between the tank and the filter next time

Hey I have an I3040 and need to get an oil filter. Does anyone know what size I need? Do I have to get my filter from LS or can I get one from an auto/tractor store?

NAPA, Baldwin/Hastings, Wix all will likely have your oil filter. Their websites have a good "look up" feature. I haven't looked to see if they have changed their data to include the LS, but one would think so.

thanks for the suggestion....

The Wix site had no info on LS.

Since LS makes New Holland... My tractor is identical (except stickers) to New Hollands "Boomer 35"

Any body know what size oil filter to use for the New Holland Boomer 35 (LS i3040)

Still looking.
