Buying Advice Nasty Divorce Forces Tractor Sale

/ Nasty Divorce Forces Tractor Sale #11
I think what is being said here is that the tractor price is pretty fair if its a good tractor.....but (in a nasty divorce) wifey may be entitled to some of the sale price. Lawyers can get pretty particular about the terms of such a sale.....and your good deal could turn out to be a nightmare. Especially under the terms of this deal. Beware.

And....when someone comes on with their first post asking for advice and then shoots the messenger....I dunno.:confused2:

K9american: let me give you some advise, ask some questions, and leave you with some food for thougt

For starters, you never answered about the 4510 listed in your profile. So lets us start by you clarifying that for us.

Second, IF he is going through a divorce, and IF they are splitting assets, it DOES seem FISHY. You need VERY clear CLARIFICATION on who exactally owns this tractor. Becasue it sounds like it is half his and half hers, and he is trying to sell it out from under her. And if this cash deal/monthly payments you speak of doesnt involve any legal paperwork, then technically, she could file suit aginst you and force you to sell the tractor and give her half of the money. Again, you need to get more info on this whole deal and make sure all your TEE's are crossed and I's are dotted.

As to the value, it is a down market. Check the links already provided and understand that the tractors are probabally ACTUALLY selling for 10-20% less than those listings.

And food for thought: this aint english class. it is just an internet forum. their are pleanty of typos, grammar errors, and mis spealt words. you aint gonna make many freinds on hear if you start nit-picking over simple spelling errors. we all new what he meant including you.:D

This is the tractor in question. I have had possession of it for several months as he has nowhere to keep it.

The divorce and asset split is a done deal. He owns the machine.

Thanks for that information. I sure didn't think they were selling for some of the listing prices I've seen, e.g. $18k.

I surely understand where you're coming from on this. I would say I did know what he meant and how it could be considered an unnecessary shot. mea culpa. :ashamed:

My apologies to all for such a rotten start to participation in this forum. I've been reading the forum for a long time and have found it helpful in answering many questions. Wish I could erase and start over leaving out the smart remarks.

Do you know why divorce is so expensive?

Because it's worth it! :D

Just kidding, happily married.

But my wife is a divorce attorney, and I second all that is said above - make darn sure that tractor is his and his alone, and that you somehow ensure the "purchase" is legit, or some lawyer is gonna chase you down and try and take it back. No matter the outcome, whenever a lawyer gets involved it ain't cheap to defend yourself.
