Tractor News New Holland going out of business???

Do you think in a few years the 'NH' will be dropped from CNH? Too much duplicating, and Multi branding?

Maybe the tractors but not the hay equipment line or skidloaders.

NH didn't build a skidloader for over 18 months recently and has moved production between three different factories in 6 or 7 years, do you really think they will maintain that separate line indefinitely?

NH hay & forage equipment has been available at CaseIH dealers In CaseIH colors for about 10 years. The only models CIH doesn't sell are the few they didn't want. They just need to quit buying the NH decals and paint colors and it's all gone, just like that: CaseIH only.
If you think corporate bean counters place any value on percieved brand loyalty by customers, check what has happened to the IH, Oliver, Allis Chalmers, Case, Minneapolis-Moline, and Ford brands.

This is why they started sourcing compacts from LS - bottom line is mo$t important.

I do like the new Blue 4wd idea. Buy the first on tires with tracks, trade in the tire tractor, keep the tracks for the next one. A bit of brand identity. NH has a huge following in Europe, would they be that stupid??

There is a lot of NH hay equipment around here towed by green tractors. A lot of these guys wouldn't even think of going with a CaseIH.

No doubt, you can't afford duplication -I guess that is what "synergism" is all about. Interesting thread.
some thoughts on all these posts:
-I would have to agree with those who point out NH's strength in Europe-at least I think they are a big player there.
-As for NH backing out as a full line construction line, perhaps they are headed back to their old Ford roots? Big time player in TLB??? I hate buzz words but might that be NH's "core business"?
- I was at a big NH dealer in New Hampshire the other day. They have two first class facilites and in addition to NH, they sell Hyundai loaders, and Kubota at one of their locations. I made a comment to one of the guys about .." how can you compete when you have an LS dealer down the street and the guy rolled his eyes and said.."well NH is going to do something about that in the next few months". The LS "dealer" I referred to looked like it was more like a garden center. How would you like to be this NH dealer with a huge investment in a first class facility and some guy all of a sudden is selling tractors painted the same way as yours, and I guess for all purposes, the same tractors as you, with NO overhead???
- as for negative copmments about Fiat, if you look at the way this guy Marchione is handling Chrysler, I would say he (they) know what they are doing.

All of this talk about CNH makes me think of the Volvo/Mack relationship in big trucks. Mack was a one time the only truly integrated builder of heavy trucks-you could get a truck that was all Mack from one end to the other. Now, its a new world. The engines are basically Volvos. How long will it take someone in sweden to say..."why do we have all this duplication in staff overhead?" Mack was at one time the leader in such vocational fields as construction. But the old guys are dying off and the brand loyalty that was there may die a bit each day with them.

Case? New Holland (Ford), IH? "Synergism" again is the buzz word that put them together but IMO the hard reality is you can't continue to make believe they all still exist-that is if you truly want to cut costs.

NH is getting of the heavy dirt equipment side. our NH construction sales guy jsut came back from Kansas and the NH construction plant for training and they announced that the only construction equipment NH will have is skid steers, backhoes, box blade tractors, and excavators. No more dozers or big stuff. The ag side though..........no worries.

So the $64 question is, will NH ag dealers have sales contracts on all those machines, or will there still be a Construction sales contract for the new limited line?

no it will still be a seperate contract. for the most part most construction dealers, didnt sale the bigger stuff anyway. so the only thing changing is the big equipment is going away.

I think that is jsut about everywhere it seems. i have a bunch of customers and also just driving around you see green tractors new and old pulling NH hay equipment and if you ask guys around here why that didnt buy Case, they almost always say it was junk years ago and even though NH is producing it now, they still wouldnt buy it just because it feels like an after thought to them. NH has a great name in hay equipment and so that is what they buy. parts and service in our part of the country also seem to be better on NH.

How is the resale on the new case-ih Balers compared to the same NH Balers? I know around here its hard to find case-ih hay equipment and if you do its an inline baler.
