How do I find AG (no hwy tax) Diesel in my area???

How long will it take you to use up 55 gallons? More air in storage tank = more moisture.

Diesel with moisture (condensation from humidity when the ambient air temperature changes) + time = bacteria = trouble in river city (fuel filter and injectors). Neighbor that buys in bulk can probably tell you how long you can safely store deisel.

This is a good point.

I havesome rusty abandoned diesel in 55 gal drums that has been sitting for who knows how long out by the garden and the big metal shed.

I know it is questionable, and have no idea how to even deal with it...

Any major truck stop has it up here, as most truckers will fill the reefer tanks with it. Also, any bulk fuel place should carry it, do up here.

Our area truck stop sells off road. I buy 55 gallons of offroad diesle in the spring and it lasts me until fall, and through the winter I just refill the 5 gallon jugs as needed. I end up about 10 gallons short on my summer needs but I only use 20 gallons through winter and not worth the risk on storage.

In Maryland (low sulfur state), I use fuel oil. (Same tank that heats the house). Been doing it for 19 years and 5-6,000 hours. Works fine.

I have a local supplier near me and from what he has told me diesel fuel is #2 grade fuel oil.

I asked about sulfer content for on and off road. Next to no difference and off road will save about .40 a gallon here in Michigan

IF you cant find a place locally to purchase it, you can apply to the DMV for a refund of your state taxes ($0.175/gal).. Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles

Im not sure how (if?) you can get your federal taxes ($0.244) back though..

here is a website that show you ethanol free gas stations..

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada REMEMBER - if they have the one hose for all three grades you wont get the premium gas until the residual in the hose is gone..

I've tried Google search on the map and other newfangled approaches.

I would REALLY like to secure a source of AG Diesel (an maybe ethanol free gass for my saws and mowers) locally.

My goal is to have at least a 55 gal drum onsite eventually.:thumbsup:

But I cannot seem to find anything. Clearly I am doing something wrong.

Guide and advise me please.

I second MrWhippy. Years ago (1970's) I had a 1000 gal underground tank to heat the house. And a hand pump to fill the tractor(s).

If you want it, I hope you find it, but... unless you find a gas station that has it dealers will not want to mess with you. I use to have a hard time getting 1000 gallons at a fair price before we started getting tankers.

It shouldn't be too hard to find- ask around locally as others have suggested- it's out there!
