Adding a 12volt outlet

If you recall my old 790...well, I worked at a Harley Davidson supplier when I owned that machine. If you look at an HD rear tag bracket, you'll see a retangular reflector. We used to get those things in the reusable shipping carts supplied by HD to ship the rear tag bracket...although we did not install the reflector.
Anyway, I had a couple, three dozen of those reflectors...must have put 12-15 of them on the rear surface of the 790's ROPS. A car's headlamps could pick up those reflectors from way back!

I bet nobody didn't see you...:D

Well, I do want to make sure I am seen!

Now that you've seen what I did...how are you going to mount your lamp? I know you were going to leave it on the hood (of the BX) but that's not advisable.
One...the flashing would drive you nuts (just make sure you take the scenic route like I did)
Two...your body would block the lamp from the most important direction...behind you.

Yeah, I know. Not sure excatly what I'm doing yet...

It works good on the carryall (which I usually have on). That way the 4-ways can be seen from the front and the light from the rear (the 4-ways are blocked from the rear by the carryall deck)...That is if the BX ever comes back...:(

Came out nice Roy, now just get an extension cord for the coiled wire and your done.

Boy...those extensions are tough to find! I must have hit every auto parts store (and (shudder) Wally-World) in the York area.
Ended up ordering one online...should be here this week.

I also added a strap over the lamp (used an old bungee strap I had). This is so I can lower the ROPS with no possibility of the lamp falling. Although the magnets should be strong enough...well, I always was a belt and suspenders kind of guy...

Roy, your project looks really great! Very impressive thus far. I Like how safety conscience you are, never taking any shortcuts.

I appreciate the comments...thank you!

Yeah...I am a safety freak, no doubt. But, like (probably) most safety conscious people...I've got the scars from doing stupid, unsafe things in my 61 years.

No doubt, we all learn from our mistakes. But it's good to try to plan ahead and do the best that we can. Life is way too short, so let's all enjoy the seat time!
