I think he was also Sgt Joe Fridays side kick in the old Dragnet series.

That was actually the new Dragnet series!
I can't recall Friday's sidekick from the original series of the late 50's to early 60's.

Friday was played by Jack Webb, if you recall...

Harry Morgan's first flick was "The Ox Bow Incident"...very good western.

Gudday Roy, You are correct that was the second series of Dragnet. Officer Bill Gannon was the character played by Mr Morgan.

He played Bill Gannon and Jack Webb played Joe Friday.

Yeah, he has had a lot of great roles over the years (even saw him on Gun Smoke a few times), but I enjoy him the most as Col Potter on MASH reruns. I am glad he had a long and good life

Of course, I enjoyed all the shows mentioned; probably seen every episode of M.A.S.H. at least 3 times, but perhaps my favorite was Support Your Local Sheriff.:laughing:

I really liked his work as the town marshal in the The Shootist with John Wayne. He could hold his own with the best in Hollywood.

I forgot about that movie and I have the DVD, great movie too, with another iconic legend in John Wayne. May have to dig that one out and watch it over the weekend.
