front what is have seen in the last few years the 10 series ford/nh and 55 series jd or probably the best used tractor and the prices or going up instead of down on these models so they should have good resale value later down the road also

You need a tractor that you can depend on. Just when you need it the most is when it will break down new or used. You need a dealer network and replacement parts fast. You can't wait to have parts shipped in from India when you have hay down. IMO don't go off brand. It will come back to bite you in the *****.

Check them all out. Depending on the total price I would probably go with the Mahindra if it is only 10K more and has more options along with the warranty. Go to the dealer and drive one around to see if you even like it.

I would take a good long look. Compare specs at TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors and you'll see what your really paying for in difference. Remember that although some off brands are high quality machines, you pay for it somewhere - whether it be dealer network, build quality, features, etc. You have to decide what is worth it for you. Personally I would like knowing that I have excellent Deere service in our area and I know the build quality is excellent - not to say you couldn't find the same thing in another off brand. I know that Kioti is an excellent tractor and I think you could also be suited with something like the DK90/DK75, but still they specialize in compacts and I would prefer a Deere. If you can find an excellent condition used I would definitely go that way but if you have trouble finding a good low hour used in good condition I would lean toward a off brand even though I would feel more comfortable with a Deere.

I grow hay. Hours can mean the difference between a crop with profit or a loss. When the hay is cut and/or it's time to work it... machine reliability and repair service is critical. Dealer service and parts availability are key. Not just in machine design... there's operator error to account for too. I just busted a gear box ... my fault completely. It wasn't meant to be backed over.

Deere's parts network has served me well...

I have a few days off in the next couple weeks. I hate salesman so everytime I go to a stealership I just drive around the lot in my truck and crawl under a tractor I like to see if it might have leaks and any other damage.
I guess I'm just gonna go to the various dealers close by, (NH & Deere) and see the vibe I get from their customer service by goin in and talking to them.
Too bad the dealership down the road had to switch fro Deere to McCormick, but then again why even consider a dealer that had to drop a brand because of under the table deals to high dollar crop growers :/

I would personally look older for a deere, the old ones go forever. You can easily get a john deere 4020 for under $10k. (95 hp one from the 60s) That tractor will last longer then any mahindra. (even though it is already 50 years old)

This is very true. Back then it was all metal and HP. Now a days there's so much more to go wrong from the turbo chargers to air conditioning and although they will last it won't be as trouble free - and the older models are much easier to work on yourself as they are much simpler. This would require you to get some sort of a loader as well though and that would more than likely require another tractor, which may put you close to the same price range.

I often see 4020s with loaders at auction up here, so it is the only one you would need. Ton of old deeres up here in canada. That is exactly what I am going to get when I buy my first place.
