Old topic but new recent fodder. The worst thing so far on my property was an early morning visit through my pet doors. Dogs in the house were making a terrible fuss in the basement. It seems a family of 5 racoons decided to make a combined raid on my cat food dish in the basement. The dogs were valiantly defending territory. Nothing a Ruger 22/45 couldn't clear up. But my wife was worried about me shooting in the basement at 3 AM.....

Did you get them all without splattering the wifes washing machine up with coon guts?

I don't have pet doors for that reason.

I had a similar experience. Heck of a racket out on the deck from a possum. So I go out, a gazillion candlepower torch in one hand, high powered air-riffle in the other, It's 2am and 2degrees C and I'm standing there starkers.

'course I missed.

No there will be no photos

I put the food right at the cat door whatever is out there I want them to come in for their last meal. Cats let nothing leave alive. Would rather that than a duck or chicken out of the coop.

How did a Family of Raccoons gain access to your basement in the first place?
I read your thread again and noticed the "Pet Doors" insertion. I have never had Pet Doors. Is there any way to close the entrance at times?

Have lived here with pet door for 12 years w/out a problem. I guess the stars were properly aligned for me. Only one raccoon died in the writing of this post. The dogs must be getting old...

This is one time we don't need pictures.:laughing: I'm just trying to keep the picture out of my mind.
