So ,if things go right I'll be driving 3 hours to look at a work saver 5ft grapple rake . Been wanting one of these since I tried one out . The guy said he's used it once to load logs on his wood processor, then came across one that was made to pick up logs better. He said it cost him $1800 +tax and would let it go for $1300 . I can't come up with the $'s to have it plumed into the front (right now).I guess I'm going to look into using the rear remotes for hook up ? I have know idea how much it's going to cost to have hoses made up?
The big Q. is how am I going to tell the wife I need something else to buy to be able to use it ?
Wait , I know, after I buy it right!!!!!

Good Luck. I sincerely hope that you are successful in obtaining your grapple rake. In regards to the explanation to your Wife: It depends on how long the two of you have been married.:D

Good traveling day weather wise.
Hoses aren't cheap, might as well purchase top notch for the weather yo folks can get.

No help when it comes to your bride, but good chance you'll be paying double. ;)

Assuming it is a skid steer type mount, you would have to fabricate something to use it on the 3 pt on the tractor. You would also have very limited use on the rear since most grapples have to be tilted up and down and much of the utility comes from being able to lift higher than your 3 pt will go.

I really don't see being very useful on the rear. You are going to have to spring for the front hoses and those will not be cheap! But you won't need high flow (large diameter) lines so that will help.

There are online places that will make and ship hoses. They do good work. Just make sure you get the right connections ordered and add a couple more feet than the most that you think you will need. It is far easier to make a loop and zip tie it than it is to stretch a hose that is six inches short.
Just run hoses from your rear remote up to the grapple. If you are not using it every day, you will be fine. Grapples are great.

Ken, do you realize the grapple is going on the loader, he is just using the rear remotes for the hydraulic line hook ups?
Horsinaround, I buy a lot of stuff at auctions and come across some good delas once in awhile. I bought an old worn out front mounted sweeper a few years ago. It had likely 10 different hoses on it, 4 sets of outlet ends, 3 small hydraulic motors and 1 big one that ran the big sweeper. Half the hoses were almost brand new. I had enough hose to complete my grapple and used the quick couplers too. I still have the motors and will use them some day. And the scrap steel is likely worth $50 when I take it away.

I always find it easier to ask for forgiveness after the fact than to ask permission up front. ;)

I have done similar purchases/trades.

The wife and I drove 3 1/2 hrs. to look at it and the guy was right by saying it was like new, didn't have a scrape on it and he had it in his shop under cover. I've looked at a few on line and there is so many that are diff. The one I was looking at is a FLGR-4062S Compact Tractor Grapple by Work Saver, 5ft with the top being smaller , And I think it had 5 tine with 8"space between them.
The thing I really don't know about is the length of the tines, these are short. The other thing is I be leave it will only open to 27" wide from what I understand. Doesn't seem very wide to me but I've only tried one out along time ago. The guy said he payed around $1750 +tax I went on the web and found this ,Worksaver's Home Page
So help!!:confused2: I don't want to spend that kind of money on one, if there is one better I should be looking at . The MAX I can do is $1300.00 and that would be shipping included.
Would any of you that have a grapple give me some advice ,on this model or could tell me what the diff. in what I can do with a short tine and a long tine model? Would be very grateful for any and all advice.
( Oh about the sweetheart of my life and the new toy (I mean tractor att.) if I get some good advice to get it ,after some sweeeeet talking and some yes dear's and some I will's she give me the OK to get it . Mind you she wasn't as happy as I was but I know I'll be tickled enough for both of us when I'm able to put it to use:D:thumbsup:
