Truck Washing

I am amazed at you guys who say they do not wash their vehicles. I mean it seems like a dumb thing to me not to take care of you 2nd biggest investment behind your house.:confused2:

I have too much invested not to take care of them.

2006 F-350 Diesel
2008 Nissan Titan
2008 BMW 335I

Heck I wash my boat after every use and for that matter my car haul trailer also gets washed before getting stuck back in the barn.

Kind of reminds me of my neighbor. Him and his wife park in the drive way while $200 worth of broken bikes and crap no one would buy at the last garage sell sits secure in the garage. It makes me laugh each time I drive by and see that $45,000 Lincoln and $50,000 Dmax sitting there with limbs, snow, bird crap, cats, ect all over them.

Chris

I have a 99 F-350, 04 Honda odessy, and a 97 Toyota Corolla, The Ford and Honda bodies are spotless, except for the tailgate on the ford. Dirt on the exterior of the truck does not bother me. The interiors of all are spotless, and my wife hauls the goats around in her mini van. I plan on keeping these vehicles for at least another 10 years. When the truck was new and I had payments I washed all the time, as well as the van. Both have regular maintenance, plus I live on a dirt road, now my boats quad and other equipment, that's a different story

I did two of mine yesterday while the weather was nice before the big game. Washed them both with the electric power washer and a micro-fiber mitt on a pole.

Gave them each a quick wax with the Turtle Wax (wax as you dry) stuff that is in a Windex type container.

Those machines look very well cared for !! Have to wonder though, how effective any type of wax is below 65 degrees. Every paste and liquid wax I have used states on the label it must be at least 65 degrees for the product to apply properly. Does the spray on type also advise that?

BTW Soundguy, every time I wash one of our vehicles, I use a 12 amp electric blower to remove the rinse water and using that method is so effective I only get a half dozen paper towels damp wiping the remnants of the water droplets off the glass. Blow drying saves a lot of time, and I use the damp paper towels to clean the doorframes and rocker panel undersides.

i use the white terry towels and then just wash them in the shop in a 5g bucket with a removeable top.. then hang them to dry. bag of 10 cycles thru aver couple weeks. less food fo rthe landfill..e tc.

Thanks. I try to clean each of my vehicles once a week. It gets tough to find time with 3 but with the electric power washer hooked up in the heated garage year round and 50' of hose it makes it quick work. I have a car wash bucket on wheels and 2 brushes plus a little wheel brush that prevents the bending over. I can wash the car in 5 minutes but probably spend 10 on the wheels and another 10 hand drying it with towel's. The Titan and F-350 each take 15 minutes to wash but the wheels only take 5 minutes. The drying is the killer on both them, about 20 minutes. The Titan is easier then the F-350 because its Pewter in color. The F-350 is dark blue and you have to hurry or it spots. Almost as tough as black.

I just checked the label and it has no mention of temp range. It works really good for what it is. I hand wax twice a year but this about every other wash really makes a difference.

One other thing I do is wipe out the door jambs, fuel tank door, trunk lid area, ect with a damp cloth. Its amazing how much dirt and grime get in there.

I pull mine over next to the garage.

It's closer to the hose rack.

Same here! I doubt my truck would even fit in a car wash and I'm not about to find out either.

The automatic cash washes around here have the extra wide bays(duallys welcome) but does say if you have the extra wide mirrors(fold in) and take your reciever hitch out.
