Snow snow removal.

Hey 600rider, I believe your quesstimate is a little on the high side for average snow fall in Union city PA. It be closer to 115". Not saying that isn't a lot ;)

Dam* 115 is enough. We had over 200" here a few years ago and it was WAY more than I needed!

I have my FEL as my only snow fighter hardware. Seems like we only got a a foot or so this year. I tried using a piece of plastic pipe over my cutting edge on the bucket and it worked great.

I used my FEL for the 10 inches we just got. Wind was blowing hard and I didn't feel like using the blower.

Check snow fall totals for Edinboro, Waterford, Union City or Corry and you will see how the rest of us live!

Didn't mean to upset you but the cities you listed are what I reseached. Not saying there weren't years that went above but they still don't reach averages of 250 or 300 inches. Buffalo area is on record for being one of the highest snow fall places in the US{especially in 76-77} every year and they don't see 250-300" of snow. Again not trying to burst you bubble and do understand you get a lot of snow but not an average of 250" or 300", 115 is the average.

I use the loader almost exclusively. Although I'd like to have a QA plow, with 150' or so of drive way...just not worth adding another implement.
I expect I'll get one of those clamp on plows sooner or later though.

Gotta say, I do expect to see some great deals on snow removal equipment later this year!

Concerning this academic discussion about snow (today is the first one:D), I find my walk behind snowblower a PITA because it is throws too much rock since my drives and the neighbors' are mostly gravel. The FEL and Back Blade on the Kubota does a neat, controlable job. Last year when drifts piled up against garage doors and driveways (mine and neighbors), the FEL allowed me to move it away in large piles. Although not as efficient as a Front Plow the Rear Blade works pretty good forward or backward. My neck doesn't work all that good however. That walk behind snow blower does work well in tight place where the patio's are and can make nice paths over turf areas to sheds etc.
If I had long runs over solid surfaces in a high snow belt, I'd have a tractor mounted snow blower however....with a heated cab and some extra dollars for maintenance.

I use the loader pushing forward and for moving a pile further out. I push with the back blade when I back up. Seems pretty efficient. I also have a gravel drive and road and barnyard and can go right up beside the vehicles and plow out enough room to move them both over and plow out that side, without taking out any windows on the house or vehicles (or throwing gravel all over what passes for a lawn). It isn't very noisy and I can listen to the radio or music and face forward more than 1/2 the time!

...I know there are a lot of guys out there who will take offense at this...

Don't know why anyone would take offense. I've never had a front or rear mount blower. Before I put the blade on the truck I used the FEL. It beat shoveling. ;)
