I didn't thing diesels could run nitrous, to much compression? That's why they use propane, same effect but doesn't ignite prematurely?

No diesels can run nitrous. This ones on nitrous as many are...

Nitrous does not burn. It is an excellent carrier of oxygen, and carries much more oxygen than the air we breath. When injected into the intake, it allows much more oxygen to be present in the cylinder during combustion, the more oxygen you have, the more fuel you can burn= MORE POWER.

There is no such thing as detonation in diesels. Fuel is not injected until the piston reaches the ideal position, unlike gasoline engines, so there is no possibility of pre-ignition. Thats why diesels can run obscene amounts of boost with the only worry being: can the hardware handle the pressures. With a gasoline engine, too much boost causes detonation.

Look at top fuel dragsters running nitromethane maxing out at 60-65 psi of boost, whereas a pro-mod diesel pulling truck can run north of 150 psi of boost.

Me, I just like observing the torque rise twisting the front bumper sideways (the frame is flexing with the torque rise of the engine).....l

1500 ft.lbs is nothing for even an emission compliant diesel (class 8). The ISXC's can be set to 2300 ft.lb. in multi-torque mode.

I drive a Western Star day cab like the one in the second vid. It's 6 years old with a 550 Cat, 3406, 18 speed Road Ranger, 18 series driveline, 44 rears with a 370 final drive. A bit of smoke (where there ain't no smoke, there ain't no power). It's an everyday working truck usually pulling an 8 axle flatbed in michigan and grossing around 161,000 pounds.... sometimes quite a bit more....:D

Around here there are some guys who run both nitrous and propane. The nitrous leans it out and the propane riches it back up.
