I just got estimates on drilling a well on my property. All 3 of the drillers have done wells in the general area and all 3 say that most likely I'm going to have to go down 1,000 ft. Whew, that's about 23K. Sakes alive, that's going to be some expensive water.

Let's hope you get lots of good water for that price, be a shame if it came up dry .

And hopefully your water will be drinkable. It cost me another 5k on my well for a water softner ans a UV light filter, but the well is a surtace well dug with a backhoe, the well cost me approx 2k$. But at 1000 feet you shouldn't have much bacteria in the water, but it can be hard no matter how deep you go.

I had my well drilled in April 2005--154 ft deep.
Drilling and steel casing (6-5/8" dia x 0.134" wall) cost me $21/ft.
Looks like you're paying $23/ft for drilling and whatever casing you're getting.

Yikes! They estimate based on other wells in the area we are going to need to go 150' here for around 4K. I thought that was bad...

That is about the price they are getting in my area give or take $5.00 either way. Our wells are running about 600' in my local area I think the last one went 550' I think that is what I heard? Good luck.

Dang, I guess I need to quite complaining about my $1,600 I had to pay to go just 42 feet.
