Thank you everyone for you help. I got back from the cruise today and have to say that it was a lot of fun. I'm afraid to see how much weight I gained!!! The food was incredible everywhere we ate. We mostly drank tea and juice, so the bar tab wasn't too bad. We did pose for and buy quite a few pics that they took. It was fun taking them, and since we didn't have to buy any of them, we where able to be picky in what we did buy. Our room was on the 8th floor, midship and an interior cabin with a king bed. It was plenty big and nicer then any RV that I've stayed in. They cleaned our room twice a day.

The weather was perfect. We where at sea for two days and then on Wed morning, we where at Montego Bay, Jamaica. We went on an excursion to touch and get pics with the dolphins, then climb Dunns Falls. The drive was a bit long, but not bad. The dolphins where fun, and eveyone was joking around. The water falls where the most fun ever. We had a blast and want to go back and just spend a day hanging out there going up it again and again.

Next day we where in Grand Cayman. We booked a luxery 58ft yaht to take us out snorkling and then to have lunch on a private beach. The water and sand are the best I've ever seen. Crystal clear water, white sand and warm water. Just incredible. Then when we got back to town, we still had a few hours, so we went to 7 mile beach until it was time to leave. FUN FUN FUN!!!

Our last stop was at Cozumel. We booked the all day excursion to see Tulum Mayan Ruins in Playa. It was an hour on the ferry, then an hour on the bus. We had 3 hours to see the ruins with our guide, but where allowed to go on our own at our own pace. The time zone was an hour off from ship time, so we knew that we had to be back one hour later then local time. What we didn't know is that several hours after being there, the time of the phone would change from ship time to local time. We didn't have a clue and where eating lunch, talking about going shopping when the tour guide found us and said we where 15 minutes late and they where waiting on us. OOPS

Because it's a Carnival excursion, they held the ferry for us, and we all made it back to the ship about half an hour late. We got lucky, but the next day we where talking to some people who met a lady who had the same thing happen to her. She was on a different ship out of Galveston and missed her ship. They put her on our ship with just the clothes on her back. No passport either. How she got back to Galveston and all of that was something we guessed about, but don't really know. We're just glad that it wasn't us!!!

Something we learned real quick is that the rules are just generaul guidlines. Nobody enforces them, or really seams to care. Where what you want to dinner, leave when you want for the tour, and best of all, we left to exit the ship an hour before we where supposed to. We where an hour on the road by the time we where scheduled to leave our room to disembark.

We're talking about going again, maybe this summer. It really depends on my schedule, and where she wants to go with her kids. We might do the Eastern Caribbean or we might just stay at a resort. Grand Caymans has the best beach and water, but Playa has the most fun things to do and cheapest prices.

I took 1,324 pics, plus two waterproof disposable cameras that I need to get developed. We bought a dozen pics that I'm going to scan into my computer and make an album when I get it all organized. Right now, I'm having fun posting a few pics on facebook.

Eddie

Welcome back Eddie. I was sure you would enjoy yourself. I always tell people to wear a watch while on cruises instead of using their phone for the time because you never know when it will change times on you.

The watch is a must have. I also found that it was tough to know what time it was while on board. The only clocks where on the walls at the stairs. We didn't bring a watch, or a clock. I like to have a clock in my room. I missed that and was always turning on the TV to know what time it was. My phone was turned off and in the safe. My friends was pluged into the one and only outlet in the room, which wasn't near the bed.

In hindsight, I should have bought a cheap ten dollar watch on the ship, but in all honesty, it never crossed my mind that there would be an issue with the phone. That delay in changing time could have really turned out bad for us. We got VERY LUCKY!!!!

You were very lucky.. We usually sit on the fantail and watch the laties or straglers come running back up the dock. .Of course there is not a way to go back and get them. Sometimes even the Pilot has to jump hard to leave the boat, after guiding the ship out??Glad you liked the Caymans..They were our favorite too..

Back in 2010 when I got married, my wife and I went to jamaica on our honeymoon. We did the excursion to climb Dunns Falls and your right, it was spectacular. Probably the highlight if the trip. We bought the DVD of the climb and watch it every once in a while. Glad you had a good trip and made it back safe.

Glad you had a great trip... Have you booked your next cruise yet??

Carnival and Princess have a program where if you prepay a deposit ($100 ish) toward your next cruise they will then give you an additional $50 to $100 worth of onboard credits (based on the length of the cruise).. We took Carnival cruise in Feb and they deducted the $100 we paid and then gave us $75 ship credit for our 6 day cruise...

If you dont/cant go they will refund you your deposit..

We looked into that while on the ship. My friend has vacation in July and we asked about a 7 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, but nothing was available. They gave us a price for the same cruise we where on at that time and it was quite a bit more then we paid for it online. The savings just wasn't there.

I'd like to do that cruise, and maybe look into one to other places, but I doubt that I'll ever go on the same cruise again. If I'm going to take the time off, then I want to go somewhere new.

I'm booked up with work to the end of summer, so taking time off means that my clients will have to wait for me to come back to do their remodels. That also makes it hard for me to get away. I enjoyed it, but I also lovee what I do and hate being away.

We've taken 5 or 6 cruises, including one to Hawaii. The wife likes Hawaii, but my favorite was a cruise on Royal Caribbean that we took this January. We flew to San Juan Puerto Rico; had the next day to see the town and especially the El Moro Fort. We had a hotel on the beach; I found San Juan to be absolutely wonderful. We boarded the ship that evening. The cruise included Granada, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Croix, and another one or two that I forget right now. Magnificent. The Virgin Islands were breathtakingly beautiful; the beach at St. Thomas (the name escapes me right now) was one of the nicest I've seen; rated as one of the top 10 in the world.

Royal Caribbean is a bit more adult, older folks, not many kids or young adults. The food was not quite as good as Carnival, but still very good. I say if they would hire a chef or two from Oklahoma or Texas it would be perfect.

Have lots of pics, but don't know how to post. Would send them if you're interested.

Dennis.

We've done 8 or more cruises, including TransAtlantic. Wonderful way to travel and, if you do your homework, relatively inexpensive. We don't fly ever, so cruise ships are a big deal for us. Took a Holland America cruise last fall from Ft. Lauderdale to Aruba, Bonaire and an island I can't spell, but also did a partial transit of the Panama Canal. It was great and the canal is a fascinating place. Their tractors, the ones that pull ships through, are some of the most powerful anywhere, and they pull six at a time in a synchronized fashion that is fantastic.

Keep crusing. You'll find a whole world out there.
