Camera for new barn

I have cameras outside and inside. I want everybody to know they are there. I can view them anytime from the internet or the TVs. Signs are there as well as audibles. Make no mistake, they are cheap insurance. The LEDs tell the perps they are not fake cameras.

Meeting all types of 'visitors' at the door or at the barn or 1/2 way up the driveway before they are aware of you is a LOT of Fun. "What do YOU want"? always stops them in their tracks. The scabbard on the golf cart is also free awareness.

Of course, occasional unscheduled gunfire also is cheap advertizing. The 50cal alerts the whole township... Lookin' for trouble? You'll find it here !

Scrappers and dog thieves seem to be the latest local 'problem'.

All this camera talk has me interested.

Any good websites that discuss cameras, etc. Or a good vendor that sells them? Thanks!

I recently heard of a case where people had pictures or video from a security camera in their house of it being robbed. The police wouldn't do anything about it because there wasn't any signage warning people the property was under security surveillance. Might be something to look into.

That's how it is here in PA. Back in '07, my shop got completely cleaned out. It was all caught on tape, but completely inadmissible because I didn't have signs posted warning the scumbags.

But were they convicted anyway???

Papa and buck, it is not cheap. Figure at least 400 for 4 cameras , cables and recorder. I did it for less but I cobbled deals as I had an idea and experience for what's I wanted. Us made systems are around 800 entry level.

Look at Costco. The.q-see brand us on sale and does well for them. These are all hard wired systems with a dedicated recorder. You can hook a camera to an old computer and save cash, or go fancy and buy wireless cameras ( but they still need power so they are not truly wireless)

If it were me I would buy a qsee and then purchase another higher quality camera to be my main camera.

Hope this helps.

That is the most f_cked up law I ever heard of. I wonder why it doesnt apply to traffic cams? I wonder if they had burned the place down or murdered someone if would have been admissable. Laws like this are why vigilante justice is on the increase.

I don't know if it is state by state, but audio is inadmissable without consent or a warrant. I believe video without audio is, which is why most security cams don't do audio.

I just saw, a couple of weeks ago, a security camera- digital recorder system for under $200. 4 weatherproof cameras, motion activated, with infrared, and a 4 channel recorder that would hold many hours of data. Looked like the real deal, with all the bits and pieces you'd need to get up and running. An online electronics dealer called Newegg.com
