Lawn Striping Attachment

I too like stripes :D

Our mower has a built in striper. The mower deck chucks the clippings out in a windrow behind the mower.
There is then a collector that you can raise and lower separately that is mounted behind the tractor. It has a brush to sweep up the clippings, even when they are wet :) The sweeper also has a roller that gives you the stripes.

I always lift the collector when turning or reversing. Next time I mow I will get some pictures.

Has anybody made a striping attachment for their mower to make those pretty alternating "light-dark-light" stripes in their yard when they mow? I have a B7500 with the 60" MMM and am thinking about a new way to do it.

Kubota offers a striping kit for their ZD mowers, nothing for the mower like you have. But since it is just a roller design, it looks like a roller designed for 3 point hitch would work.

The only time I got stripes in the lawn was from too much fertilizer using the push drop spreader. All the runs up the hill were slower than the ones down the hill, leading to green and not so green strips permanently showing.

Ok, The lawn striper project is complete!

I finished collecting the components and cut the PVC bushings to size.

I just picked up a Ford 918L flail mower last week, Will the rear roller on it stripe the grass?

A friend of mine owns a race track I help him cut the grass there would be kinda neat to stripe it for special race occasions........

It should do but if the grass is long and you are not colecting it the stripes might get covered over by grass cuttings.

Anything that folds the grass over will leave a stripe, stripes are just when the grass reflects the light in a different way.

Well, Today was the first cut with the striping roller and I think it turned out OK. It is a little bit of a pain to have to lift it at the end of every row, but once I did it a few times it became second nature. If I were to build this project again, I would use something a little heavier than 16ga sheet metal for the plates - although it does make it quite easy to fix things if they get a little bent up.

Good plan. But, if you want real stripes, get a reel mower. A fairway mower is the way to really make your lawn look like a fairway. I use a Toro Reelmaster 5100D, (8' cut).

You could cut that lawn (above) in about 10 min.
