I started this thread on another forum, but would like to post over here for some additional help/advise.

So I convinced myself I NEED a welder and now I've convinced myself I NEED to spend 3 times more than my original budget, but although I think I want a 211, I'm still open to suggestions.

My biggest question is why they would go with a 115V / 230V. With the standard being 110/220 why would they add the extra couple V's? I have a couple 220 and plenty of 110's, but with it being a 115 and a 230 would I need to put in a new breaker for 230V? Not a huge deal or anything, just more a pain for them not making it the standard.

Thanks!

Voltages vary quite a bit but 115/230 is kind of the standard, but we see more 120/240 here from our power company.. I have not seen 110 volts lately.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to continually trip the breaker. As long as that's not going to happen, I should be ok. I am going to have to change the location and plug type of the outlet, but that's even easier than the breaker box. The old camper plug isn't the same as the 220 on the welder.

As for the welder itself, I've got a 'cart' ready to be purchased containing:
The 211 itself
Helmet
Gloves
Extension Cord
Jacket
Cover for the welder

Anything else you would recommend I should get or not get? Also, I'm looking to purchase this from 'Cyberweld'. They seem to have the best prices, but has anyone had good/bad experiences with them?

Thanks again

Amps trip the breaker, not voltage. 5% change in the voltage will make a small difference in the amps, but not enough to be noticed. Maybe an EE here will give a more authoritative answer.

I too have been looking at the 211, if you are doing aluminum look at getting the spool gun.

You are going to purchase a bottle of gas as well right?

I'll purchase the spool gun when I need it. No use as of now. I am correct in say it can be bought after, you don't have to get it with the original order, correct?

I will be getting a bottle, but I something does t sit well with me having it shipped. I'd like to get the owners manual just to see if it recommends some type/brand.

Correct the spoolgun can be purchased later.

I would definitely purchase your bottle locally.

I bought a 211 a couple of years ago. At the time, Miller was running a special where the spool gun was included. It is a really nice machine.

Thanks guys!

I'm going to do a little more searching to make sure it's what I want and for the best price, but I think I'll be purchasing the 211.
