Paul aka 4shorts:
More questions, you mentioned you did not need the fore/aft option on
your seat install, why not ? Is the seat in a fixed position and not moveable
at all ? How does this work out for different operators ? My wife is a kinda
small woman and she would need it a lot closer than me. Does your seat have
the Isolator installed in it ? thanks, Railbender

The for/aft isolator is for reducing vibration in the direction the vehicle is moving in and for $170. I didn't really think it was worth the cost. I've never had an issue with forward or reverse vibration. Maybe if you were using implements it might be good for your needs.
My seat has full forward and back adjustment. Actually I think there's 15" of adjustment and you will get all that adjustment in the 5740's cab the way I did it. I attached a link for you on the for/aft isolator. You can decide for yourself but it has nothing to do with seat adjustment.

Hope this clarifies it for you ;)

Oh man. I wasn't being critical. Just trying to point out the difference in both seat models and the different ways to install them. :ashamed:

Mr. Paul aka 4shorts :
I did not mean to be critical of DDT either, I really meant I just like
the looks of your seat better, not the install. I also think it would fit my
use better. I have several different people driving my tractor, my wife-5'5",
grandson- 19 years 6'4", my grandson- 10 years 5'6" and a son 5'10" plus
myself at 6'. You notice I did not give my wife's age !!~! ha. Wisdom does
come with age.
Now for more QUESTIONS : Does your seat adjust to hight mechanical
before adding the amount of air ride you want or need ? How much adjust-
meant does it have in this way ? I believe you said your seat model was
MSG-93-721, right ? I haven't been able to get all the specs. on this seat that
I would like to have. Is there some place I can get them online ? About all I
have so far is the hight & width, but I would like to have all the adjustments
in hight, width, fore & aft and all other info i can. How much higher would
the fore & aft Isolator make the seat and would it work in this application ?
Thanks in advance for your help. May need more, don't mean to be a bother
though !
I think you can see why I need a seat with a lot of adjustment to it.
I have a son also 6'3" that is a good metal worker and we have made
a few mods to our tractor. Built a brush guard or overflow guard on top of
the 4n1 bucket, also a hanger on rear of tractor for the 3 remotes we have.
I could not believe the way the factory expected the dealer to put them on
that little flimsy piece of metal with two screws holding it in place !!! Guess
I need to send you pic's of it. We use the hyd. box blade and 4n1 bucket
quite a bit around here. the top and tilt plus the hyd. scarffers with the extra
remotes let you do about anything you want with equipment on the rear of
tractor. The 4n1 bucket is a real back saver on picking up brush and such like.

Man you have a family of giants :). Sounds like you have good help with this project as well. I'm mobile right now but found the specs and attached a link. Hope it works. Sometimes this iPhone do let me down :(

How the seat works is that when you sit in the seat there is a small window that you look at. If the window is yellow you start the compressor via small knob and let it build up pressure until the window turns green and then your set up perfectly. The height don't change much but the ability to dampen the shock does.
I'm not sure how much height the Fore/Aft option adds to the seat. You might want to contact a Grammer supplier and ask them.
Hope this helps. Cheers. Paul

mr. 4shorts :
can you tell me the hight of the piece of metal you added to the back
of the seat pan ? this would help give me a place to start. also when your
seat is completely deflated and down as far as it will go, how far from top
of seat cushion to floor pan and then how far will it rise from this point ?
I know i have a lot of questions but i kinda want to get this right the first
time. I appreciate your help on this.

Sorry I took so long to answer you but as i mentioned in your PM that you sent me this is the busiest time of the year for me right now plus i get so many emails on different subjects I can't possibly get them all answered right away.

If you look back at the photo where I cut the seat pan of the tractor you'll see that when I made the cut I did so I could push the pan bottom down until it was at level. That is how I knew what size plate to cut and fill in the open area with so you really didn't need to ask me this measurement because once you made the same cut and the floor went level you just needed to measure the height and cut the plate accordingly. I did go out to the tractor and measure it for you and it's 2.24".

You asked me about the measurement from the top of the seat cushion to the floor all the way up and all the way down. When I attached the Specs link for you to review it tells you all of it there. This is the same information I went by to do my install. I downloaded the specs again and put red arrows in the area you were wanting the measurements for. Hope this helps.
