Anyone use a battery operated transfer pump?

Hi Carl,
Sorry, but I had to chuckle a bit, If I bought my wife a battery operated pimp, should would kill me:)

I also know it was a typo, but it's gotta be one of the funniest typos I've seen in a while.

Here are a couple of systems I've built.

So just a follow up on this, the pump arrived, and it works, and works quite well for what it is (transferring 6 gallons red can to a lawn tractor or quad). About the only issue is that it looks like some unforgiving sex toy which was the 1st thing the wife mentioned. ( I guess the battery operated pimp typo was not that far off from the truth). I think if the handle wasn't purple, it would not be so bad. But so far so good. Has an automatic shutoff, sensing when the tank is full, and it pumps pretty fast. I ran some diesel in it as well.

Thanks for the update! Thats pretty funny about how it looks like a sex toy. I am not sure why they choose purple, but its possible that they are marketing to woman? anyways, I am going to get one too, I am so tired of lifting gas cans with my shoulders that are shot. I was wondering, how long is the hose on it, are you able to leave the can on the ground while you fill your mower. I am not sure if it will reach up to fill our quad, or if you can add an extension hose to it? Thanks again, that will be a big help.

I got tired of carrying fuel cans so I tapped into my trucks fuel tank 22 years ago and never looked back.

Added a "T" valve, pump and flex line that has been ideal...

Part of the problem is my truck is a service van so anything I carry is inside... didn't like the possibility of spills or fumes...

Mitch, it is no good for a quad. The hose on it is about the height of a plastic 5 gallon can (the wand is the length of the hose) so I am thinking 18" so it would be a 30" reach from the bottom of the gas can to the top of the hose. But if the gas was on the quad (how I did it) or if you put the gas can up on a step stool you would be good to go. There is a lot of pressure, so I think extending it a bit is possible (putting on some extension hose) but I doubt by much more than a foot.

I am trying to find an economical way of pumping diesel out of a 55 gallon barrel. Every diesel pump I see is like $150 just for the pump. I am thinking about maybe a fuel pump from a wrecked vehicle or something like that. Will start a new thread....

Thanks for the info! One way you could possibly try with the 55 Gallon Drum, is tap a faucet like the one below into the top of the can, and lie the can on its side elevated off of the ground. Then you can open the faucet with a hose attached, and let gravity do the work for you. Just an idea:)

We had a setup like this for lubricating oils at the shop where I once worked... Fire Marshal wrote us up because the gravity flow could feed a fire.

Boss had to buy 12 pumps... one for each 55 gallon drum.

Why not just use the same pump for all 12 drums?

Here my set up. 55 gal plastic drum, 12V pump, automatic pistol all powered from the tractor. The socket has full time 12V and switched 12 V terminal. The switched terminal is used for a 3 point sprayer. Alternatively I could have used the trailer socket that has power on when the key and lights are on but I decided to use separate socket.

That's a clever set up! Thanks for the pictures.
