Unless the body is damaged. Replacing the ratchet mechanism is all you need to do. Couple of parts and a snap ring and your back in business.
I understand though if the handle was damaged and they refused replacement.

Years ago, I worked for NAPA. They had the same repair not replace policy. Fixed a ratchet for a customer over his objections. He came back a few hours later with it broken again and blood knuckles. I gave him a new ratchet a cold drink and sincere apologies.
Took the bad one apart and found striped teeth in the head. That was the last repair we ever did.
The warranty was lifetime, no questions asked.
Don't make a promise that you can not keep.
