Could a X748 pull this?

Does anyone think a X748 could pull one of these, or maybe even two?

I am considering buying one because I have been very unimpressed by the small utility trailers offered on the market these days. The empty weight of the 2 axle 6 ft trailer is 445 LBS. I am concerned that by the time I add a load, I might be pulling 1,000 pounds or more, and I am not sure how well the trans-axle would last over the years.

These are by far the most versatile trailers I have found in my search so far. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for. I would be replacing the hand winch for an electric winch, or a hydraulic motor to turn the cable spool. The electric winch is likely the easiest mod I think. Just run some cables from my battery to the rear, hook it together and away I go, that way I do not have to get off the tractor and hand crank the bed up each time.

I would hope your tractor could pull it. I used to pull 2000 pounds frequently with my old john deere 325 garden tractor.

My old LX188 easily pulled a car up a steep drive, and I could barely even tell it was attached! My X540 has at least 4X the pulling power of the LX188. No doubt not as much as the X7xx's

(The car was a Audi A6 Quattro. Not a lightweight!)

Take a look at the Ohio Steel swivel/dump trailer. It is one of the best ATV trailers available. I have one, and it is great!

You should have no problem pulling it. Alternative trailer might be a country manufacturing inc variety. I have one, rated to haul 2000 lbs. flat replaceable wood bottom. Removable wood sides. I think it's 3 x 6 '. I added a hydraulic dump (ideal for your X748 since it has hydraulics). I posted a thread on my mods here a few years back. Love my trailer; use it several times each week. I'll try to find the link for you and post it here.

I looked at those trailers and they seem pretty cheaply built, are they? it's just angle iron and wood, a very very basic design, and for what you get they seem rather pricey.

I like how you modified yours however. One thing I always noticed with those trailers is the dump angle wasn't near steep enough to get anything to slide out. Do you think you could post a video of the trailer raising and lowering, so I can see how your hydraulic cylinder moves with the bed? Good work!

The CMI trailer is pretty simple. But, I wouldn't call it cheaply made. They could have used heavier angle iron where the pivot rod is located. And if I were to do it over again, I would replace those pieces with heavier angle and make it taller so the cylinder angle could be more vertical. The sleeve hitch is another area where the CMI could be beefier. I will say, I've used the heck out of mine. Lots of heavy dirt. It dumps steeply and always empties completely. You can see the dump angle I get in the referenced thread. If you keep a watch, they run sales of about $100 off from time to time. I think I paid $375 for mine and another $200 or so for cylinder/hoses/etc. There are better trailers, but not for the same money. I posted so you might consider hydraulics and could get some ideas from what I have done. The nicest trailer I've seen is the Provonost, if you don't mind spending $1500. And there is a Canadian member on this board that has a awesome little trailer. Can't recal the brand, but I'm pretty sure it isn't available in the U.S.
