With so many members building new shops I though I'd post a link to blocklayer.com. I stumbled on this site this afternoon while working hard at my day job. There are some great builders calculators which I am sure many members will find very handy to use while planning and building. I don't think this has been linked to before. Have fun playing with them.

I too used this site for my outdoor dining area with a hip roof and it takes all the mystery out what angle to cut. Just lookout if your ridge is off of an even 2' increment, because it moves all the rafters down in spacing to an even balanced number of rafters. No problem on common rafters but on the hips I had to estimate the length. I didn't know there was so many sizes of block available, or maybe it just down in Australia where the site is from.

Hi beeforty.
The roof calculator has radio buttons to 'Adjust equal spacing' or use 'Exact Spacing'. If you select 'Exact Spacing' it will stick with what you enter (hips also) and if necessary, adjust the 2 end ridge common spacings to suit.
We don't use sheeting here (Australia), so don't need to keep exact centers.
Sorry if it's a bit confusing with all the options.
Do you think it needs more attention to the option to set exact spacing?
Maybe an exclamation icon or something next to the radio buttons and an explanation?
Thanks for any suggestions here, it's difficult to make it all clear with so many inputs.
