Mahindra 7520 and Bobcat T-320
I have a Mahindra tractor and 8' land pride bush hog. It's been on and off 8-10 times but I always had somebody who knows what they're doing. Today I can get the 2 sides on and move it up and down. Can get the top rod also easily. Having a **** of a time getting the grooves to line up on the center piece. Is there a trick to this? Tried hooking it up first, last, doesn't seem to matter.

I guess I don't understand, If you have the two pins on the lower links, I cannot understand why you could not get the top link hooked up. The top link is the easy part. You hold the end of the top link in your hand and with the other hand rotate the center section one direction or the other to either lengthen or shorten the top link to place the eye in line with the pin in the top link connection point. Perhaps a photo or two posted here would shed some light on the problem. I would be happy to help but I do not understand the problem.

With the tractor off, you can turn the pto shaft by hand to align the splines. Also be sure the locking mechanism on the shaft is being opened when trying to attach.

Grease or WD the PTO female end and lube the PTO on the tractor as well. Typically with the tractor shut off you can rotate the PTO on the tractor with your hand. Butt the PTO shaft up against the tractor PTO and gently rotate the tractor PTO with your hand until you feel the shaft slide in 1/4 to 1/2 ". You are lined up! Now it is time to hold the release mechanism on the shaft and push it all the way on until the lock clicks.
Done.

Ok.. upon re reading your post, I now think you mean the PTO shaft coupling. OK with the tractor engine turned OFF, grab the end of the PTO shaft coupling yoke and twist it a bit and see if you can get the shaft to turn a bit. If not see if your PTO shaft will turn a bit, just a slight bit is all you need to line up the splines on the PTO shaft on the tractor with the splines (grooves) in the PTO shaft coupler on the Cutter. Some PTO shafts on some tractors will not turn much or only turn one way, but you should not need much rotation to match the splines. Make sure both are greased well, and depending on your PTO coupling locking mechanism may be a bit of a problem to engage.. Let us know how you are making out.

The top link hooks up no problem it's the PTO to the female attachment of the mower. Have to raise the mower and hold at the perfect height to get it started. Seems like there has to be a better way.

By center piece do you mean PTO SHAFT ? Make sure it has some grease on it.Also you can turn shaft by hand and try to re-allign. Another thing I do if alone and one is giving me trouble I tie or use bungie cord underneath shaft to hold up and give me support, stand or sit on bushhog with tractor"off" faceing 3 pt area and slide on. Also check for burrs and or excessive dirt.

You don't have to raise the mower to make the connection. rotate the PTO shaft on the mower so that the coupling rotates around so that it may articulate and match the angle of the male PTO stub shaft on the tractor. The key is practice.. if you get it on and you still have some swear words left in you, you should take it off and try putting it back on again. Repeat until hooking up the PTO is easy, and no swear words are necessary:) You are already greasy now, you might as well practice it some..Trust me, it will get easier and easier. the More you do it.

I always have to turn the mower shaft, have never been able to turn my pto shaft. You do know there is a spring loaded ring on the mower to pto shaft coupling that has to be pulled back to slide them together once you get them lined up. Some have spring loaded button to push to accomplish this too.

Should I hook the lower pins first or try to hook PTO first? It does have a spring button on the cutter (female attachment).
