135 drain hole dripping oil, aft of block with cotter pin, help

I bought a 135 last year with our farm. After owning it for 9 months and working on it, I have found the previous owner didnt maintain the tractor very well.
It has leaks everywhere. There is a hole just behind the block that has, what looks like, a cotter pin sticking out of it. There is oil leaking out of it. What can I do to fix this,
or am I in trouble and what am I looking at, as far as fixing it. I love this tractor but it needs a lot of tlc this winter.

Check out Big Dean's site. He talks about that weep hole under "things to look for when buying a MF tractor". There should some leakage there, but take his advice on how much. Make sure you go to "next" and read all his Information, it will save you a lot of time and worry. These old MFs are great tractors, they just need some TLC and will run faithfully forever.

There shouldn't be any oil leaking from it, whether it's a leak (drips) or weeping oil (damp around hole) will tell you how bad the rear seal is. The cotter pin is there to clean any dirt that may clog the hole. Decision to fix it depends on how bad it is, some don't mind a small leak if there is no other reason to tear it down right away.

It drips after use and when it gets hot. It is not a constant drip but it drips. The oil leaking seems to be dirty but I just changed both the engine oil and the trany fluids. both are clean. I love this tractor but sometimes it confuses me. It runs strong and I can only imagine how expensive it is to tear down, so I will leave it alone if it isnt hurting anything. How difficult is it to change gaskets on the lower end of the trany? I have need to power wash this thing to see how bad the leaks are, it is damp in several areas.

That hole is there to check for leakage of the rear main oil seal on the crankshaft. A few drops of leakage is normal. A steady flow means that the seal is bad. YOu have to split the tractor at the joint between the engine and the clutch housing and remove the clutch, flywheel and oil pan to get to this seal. Sorry to give you the bad news. Good luck.

you guys are forgetting that that hole is ALSO there to drain oil from the trans input shaft seal.. not JUST the rear main.....
