In the end it all came down to cab vs. backhoe as I couldn't afford both at this time..
Maybe Santa bring ya one. Congrats on a very nice machine.. ? Why turf tires?

Very nice machine! I too went from New Holland to John Deere this year. New Holland served me well over the years and I think they are both great brands.

I had no major problems with New Holland and had a great dealer for the 10 years I owned it, but John Deere had several advantages over New Holland or any of the other major brands. I started looking a couple of years ago and keep coming back to John Deere. They are the only ones who offer a self leveling loader in this size tractor. I wanted a HST and 60ish HP which eliminated New Holland, I don't like the pedal on the Kubota, so that eliminated them. The nearest Kioti or Massey dealers are over an hour away, so that eliminated them. In the end, I just couldn't find any tractor that had all the features and capabilities of the 4520

Why turf tires?

I keep the R4s from the old machine if I need them (the wheels should fit based on the information I have), but I found that the turfs are better in the snow than the R4, and the main use for the tractor will be mowing and plowing snow. The one thing I wish JD would do is to use the 10 ply version of the front tires instead of the 4 ply ones. They are identical in size, but the 10 ply tires have ~900 lbs more load capacity per tire. Being that the tires optional, it can't be for the cost as they would pass that on to the customer. I just can't see any downside or reason for not using the higher load capacity.:confused3:

That seems to be the only draw back to turfs. I was going to get a set but cheaped out. I got chains for the r4's instead.

Wolfpack- enjoy the new machine. I share your comment on the cab-went from a 3320 open to a 4720 cab-and you are "disconnected"-not only sound, but working in close quarters-in any case I bought it for the winter heat as I was tired if sleet on my Carhartts-but the AC sure has been great lately!

buy the way-nice PowerStroke- How has that been??

Nice rig, congratulations!
4x20 JD's are great tractors. Nimble and have enough power to work. I love mine. Just put up the winters hay this past weekend. With the ehydro this job is so easy I have a hard time convincing my wife I actually do "work" around the home sometimes.

Hello;

Golly, I sure hope I didn't screw up. My trade in 3320 had turfs. The new 3320 cab unit has R-4. With the turfs in snow one revolution and the tread would be packed with snow and from then on it was like driving with slicks. To clean the turfs I would need to get on clear, plowed driveway and put some turns on the shaft.

thanks, nicholas

I had the horn option installed so I can warn those around me to get out of the way. I figured yelling in the cab wouldn't get me anywhere. :laughing:

Mowing in 90 plus temps sure was nice compared to the old tractor. And you don't get covered in dead grass. I too bought it for keeping warm while plowing snow. This part of the state seems to get a lot of wet snow that just soaks you to the bone and I am not getting any younger. The 0% for 5 years was the final kicker.

As for the PowerStroke, I love it. It has just over 30 K on it now and pulls the trailer like it isn稚 there. I am getting just over 16 MPG driving back and forth to work
