OK, there's this boat. It's aluminum, about 9 feet long, in my driveway, and full of rainwater. (Long story.) It's too heavy for two muscular guys to lift by the handles on the ends. No obvious attachment points on the sides. This may be a boat question more than a tractor question, but how do I turn it over with my FEL to dump out the water without harming the boat?

Siphon hose.

Drain plug?

The simple solution would be to get a bucket and start dipping. It may not be the easiest thing to do, but it's effective and won't damage the boat. Water is very heavy, so if you hook to it with a tractor and start pulling, it's very possible that you'll only end up bending the boat in one or more places.

get a bucket or large mug / cup, and start bailing out the boat.

if you try and lift it with tractor, you are just asking to damage something.

if it was on the lake here on the farm. i generally can just drag the boat up onto the bank, let water spill out, and keep pulling it up on the bank higher and higher. till i get rear end up of boat up on solid ground. and then still may have to get a cup to dump water out with a mug / cup before getting a couple folks to flip it over to remove the final bit of water.

but to try and flip the boat that is seating already on the ground, that is full of water. is asking for trouble and most likely the boat will not make it through. water weighs much much more than what you might think what is it like 7 lbs per gallon. to figure out how many gallons length x width x depth (all in feet) x 7.48 = gallons. i am guessing right now full of water boat weights over 2,000 lbs and 2,000 lbs is just the water.

Could drill a hole and plug it after ............. 30/30 makes a nice clean hole ............. or ......... bring the horses up and let 'em drink for a while .........nahhhh ....., siphon works too:)

About $20 and a trip to Wally World will get you a submerisble Blige pump and set of alligator clips to run it off the tractor battery to pump it out.

Start with a siphon. It requires no equipment that you don't already have (you do have a garden hose, right?). Once that gets a bunch of the water out, see if you can tip it by hand.

If I absolutely had to answer the question you actually asked, I would dump the bucket all the way and raise the boat as gently and slowly as possible with the flat top of the bucket, from as low and "deep" underneath the boat as I could get. But that's probably just going to wreck the hull.

Pull the drain plug

A shop vac hose will siphon it out pretty quickly. In case you don't have siphoning experience, submerge the hose in the water to completely fill it. Cap the discharge end with your hand and quickly pull it out to a level below the level of the water and release it. If air gets in the hose it won't work.
