I don't have a lot of experience with pigs, other than raising sows as a kid when I worked on a farm.

Just a couple questions for anyone more knowledgeable than me. I assume that Oscar's a boar and not a barrow, is there any risk of him getting pissed off and being aggressive? Or is it just not in a pigs nature?

Sure Oscar or any wild Boar or other feral animal can revert back in an instant to their primal instincts...they are by nature wild...even domestic pets..attack sometimes without provocation or reason...and it does not have to be a boar...I have been chased big time by a Sow...and I out ran her and jumped a fence...

I've never been afraid of any of them except a sow with piglets. I won't turn my back on any of them unless I know them well. In a production environment, Durocs and Yorkshire boars tend to be pretty "professional" and they know their business and there job in the business, and tend to be docile. I don't have any experience with males of other breeds. I have noted that Hampshire sows tend to be more aggressive than the York's so I can't say if a Hampshire boar is docile in a production environment.

I've never had a boar go at me, like say a dairy bull will tend to do.

Oscar is a barrow. Eddie had the vet out shortly after Oscar started directing traffic on the highway in front of Eddie's place one day. Eddie had to go bail him out of 'jail.'

Hahahaha! Missed that!! I love it! It all makes sense now! Oscar has earned a lazy life around the farm.
