Thanks - But 'Mogs are so hard to come by I don't think I'll be parting with them anytime soon... running implements on the frt & rear 3PL/PTO/remotes they' re sort of like a hybrid breed of machine a "Trucktor".

IMO the best all round farm trucks we own are the 6x6's:-
- tour ex-Army Internationals (the one pictured has the crane, a tipping tray & a c.20,000lbs PTO winch thats runs frt & underbody to rear, rated @5T it'll do 10T offroad easily ) close to equal to the 'Mogs in most condtions & superior in some, fittted with high flotation tyres or tractor tyres they're unstoppable farm/logging rigs @ c$4-6K they make ATV's look rather expensive
- our "custom" 6x6 Toyota Landcruiser Field Service, ute selectable 6x2/6x4/6x6 & air locker diff's (on all 3 axles), lengthened/strengthened chassis, HD coil over the beefed up Leaf spring suspension, 120000lb winch & a worked 6.5litre GM V8 diesel (@cost close to 'Mog $$$$$ to build )

Ford did not steal a thing. They just improved on it. Thats like saying every manufacturer to follow the first at anything such as a V8, 4x4, ect is a thief.

Either way its a bailed out GM and until a 5.3 can make some torque the point is mute.

Did Ford steal it or did they use a similiar design? How many ways are there to make a gas engine direct injected? I am glad Chrysler or GM never copied Ford.

They violated laws by stealing the exact design and used it. But being it is Ford, that is ok. The ecoboist is unproven compared to the LS Engines. Only after they can put the same miles on the odometre with ZERO failures will it be in the same league as a 5.3L,,

The ecoboost so far has been a good engine. I think it will continue to be a good engine. Ford did exstensive testing on it. The GM Ls engines are not as good as the Ford mod motors.

You other gents are right....the Unimog IS the ultimate truck.

And for commercial use on road or for towing, my money would go to Hino before I ever buy another overpriced piece of junk from Ford/GM/Dodge/International. Heck, I won't even buy another International heavy truck now that Cat engines are no longer available. The MaxxForce is the powerstroke of class 8's LOL!
