Are You a Redneck or just the opposite?

Just wondering who is willing to proclaim that they are a redneck and proud of it or, are you on the opposite end of the spectrum and willing to proclaim that and own it? Ken Sweet

I'm not sure about myself. I hunt frogs with a shot gun and go fishing with dynamite. I always get something, it's a lot better then not getting any Atall. If someone gets hurt I guess I would be Reliable.

I am no expert, however, I think that qualifies. Do you eat the frogs after the shotgun kill? Ken Sweet

What the h-ll is a red-neck???

That's a derogatory name people call working class white men, the caucasian equivalent of ni***r. It refers to the color of the back of your neck after working a day in the sun. They assume that if you work with your hands, you are too stupid to do anything else. Somebody wants to call me a redneck, I'm going to teach them some manners.

I believe the term was originally coined referring Mississippi Gov Bilbo with his red bow tie. The term was then used to refer to those who shared his ideals. The term has softened but it was not used comically then. My source is family stories told generation to generation. If you don't know who he is, a search has a lot of info but not all. He was a hard man but not ignorant.

What's the real definition now?
Since people seem to be proud to be a redneck -
Proud to be poor and going to stay that way?
Proud to be ignorant and defend you don't have a need to know?
or
Proud to be hard working in the sun?
Proud to know your not the smartest one but trying hard to become one?

The portrayal of "rednecks" by comedians seems to show it as a derogratory term.
