Your quaint notion of how data is collected in big experiments shows your last contact with science was probably in the third grade. Data of the type used in these weather studies is collected by computers and there are almost always sophisticated systems to audit data in major studies. Scientific fraud does occur but is usually detected by collaborators or competitors. That is one reason that virtually all experiments or observations are repeated in separate laboratories. Your notion that anyone would fudge data to keep their job tells us more about you than science. You had better hope drug companies are watched closely enough by the FDA to make such data fudging near impossible (they are).

You are proving my point nicely. A basic lack of understanding of the scientific method and process is a characteristic of the politically motivated denier community.

Island Tractor, I thought you were a doctor, how does that qualify you as a climate scientist? My wife is a physician and she never gets consulted on climate change.

There have been fewer strong hurricanes in the very time frame that AGW "experts" predicted they would multiply exponentially. Is it warming? Maybe, it was for about 20-25 years, the last several seem to have leveled a bit. Before that it cooled for 30 years or so, remember all the climate "experts" yelling ice age to the tops of their lungs? And how man was going to have to change his ways or we were all going to be ice pops.
The earth cools, the earth warms, been going on for 3-4 billion years.

You got off light. I only wrote "heat is power?" And someone even defended you, which was a kindness to you that you are now proving you did not deserve. I would not have even said anything if you were not talking down to the rest of us about physics, which is what you are repeating above. I don't really care that much whether you understand physics. I only care when you insult the rest of us about it.

But you are still wrong. Can you find your error, or will you substitute insult for even a cursory look at a physics text? If you have no physics texts, search through Google until you encounter Joule and Watt.

Answer these questions (to yourself):
What is an appropriate unit of heat in the SI system? (slight hint:Joule)
What is an appropriate unit of power in the SI system? (slight hint: Watt)
Do those units equal each other? (Slight hint: NO!)

Bonus questions:
What is the SI unit of energy (slight hint: Joule)
Can it be said that heat is energy? (Hint:Yes)
Can it be said that energy is power? (Hint: NO!)
Can you ignore these things and insult people about their understanding of physics anyway? (Your behavior yields the result:Apparently!)

I've never claimed to be a climate scientist. But I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night. I've also spent years in academic research labs doing biology. Also spent time doing epidemiology. Different details but similar concepts of experimental design, analysis and more generally the scientific method. Quite different from straight clinical medicine.
