Say what you want but you are in a 1 percent minority.

I mean come on. We all grew up dealing with carburetors and points but today you could not give most people something with them including me.

Of course just like they make disc brake kits for this old iron they also make efi systems and electronic ignitions.

Chris
My cars have HEI's...The points distributers can be dropped back in in 5 minutes....Good grief.

I never said I preferred drums, I said I was agnostic to them...Look up the word. Some people here get a little full of themselves. Good grief.

Lets see, my 1999 Silverado X-cab had 4 wheel disc brakes
Then my 1989 1ton P-32 Motorhome had 4 Wheel Disc Brakes.
So it seems that some people are confused about GM options and dates available but with all the other GM bashing going on here it's not surprising.
There are enough flaws in all the other brands too but then we are not supposed to be brand bashing here which some have forgotten.

I don't have an ax to grind with GM or anything im just a lifelong customer that they lost due to the bailout and their lack of innovation and trying to make a better truck. My 2011 was a huge disappointment in terms of quality, but the engine was jam up and one d the best on the market hands down. What'd they go and do? Put afm on it. No thanks, you just lost me. I don't mind afm just give me the option to buy a truck without it. They didn't. Someone else will. It has k own problems and I'm not trying to inherit those. I love my tacoma now. Ill buy a regular cab 3/4 ton or 1 ton srw sometime down the rode but for now I'm doing just fine. Oh yeah my 04 z71 was a much better truck then my 2011! My dads 2000 is a better truck then my 04.

GM only offered disc brakes in 2004 standard on all models. To get disc brakes you have to get the nht package. If you have disc brakes on a GM pickup that isn't an 04 or has the nht package then someone did the upgrade for you.

With all due respect, every GM 4x4 I've owned that have ranged from 1970 to 2011 have been far superior to each of it's previous models that I've owned...And I had no complaints with any of them over the years. They just kept getting better. The 2011 is superior to anything I've ever had...What was the problem with your 2011?

As I said my brother has had 2 AFM 5.3's and he has no issue whatsoever with them...I've never had one of those, so I can't say personally. It would be nice if that could be shut off if one chooses to do so.....Thank your local EPA for all of this..Don't blame GM.

My 03 2500hd has disks all around.

Anyway, I did this when I read they still have the 4.3. 6/8 = .75 and .75 * 5.7 = 4.3

**** that is like 60 years of the same engine design. Also 4.3 = 265 and 5.3 = 327

I had to refresh my memory of the 4.3, the last memories of the 4.3 were my mom's Astrovan when I was 15 y/o flooring it and getting scared and letting off the gas and it bouncing up and down. Union efficencies, just chop 2 cylinders off the 350 and sell it for less. Steel is like 60 cents a lb, huge savings there of like $20.

I might give you the 4.3 as I haven't cared to research it....When was the last 327 produced before the 5.3 was developed?...Where is the duplication of the 6.2?....Just becuse the displacment is the same doesn't mean the motors are the same...The V8's have no relationship with their historical displacements. Just look at them.

I owned one 4.3 in an S-10 pickup (that I sold at 230K miles) that would blow off some serious hole shots until the day I sold it....Ran perfect for me and the buyer...He customized it, drove it for a few years and sold it...The 4.3 is a good motor in my experience.

I'm not reading anything on how the 4.3 is different structurally besides being aluminum.

I'm referring on the displacement numbers in that they don't change them much.

You're right, they don't...I really don't worry about that myself...It's what they do is what matters...If they had a 403hp 5.7 instead of a 6.2 I'd be fine with that too.

The 4.3l V6 is 262 cu.in. and the 5.3l is 325 cu.in.
