Okay Roy, I see your point. I won't go as far as agreeing with you just yet but I see your point.

Please explain to me why politician want to take your guns away if its not for safety? I don't get it or see it?

Some politicians look at us as subjects, not citizens. Some politicians (such as Feinstein and Carolyn McCarthy (of NYS)) have a fear of firearms. Some politicians think they know better what is good for us then we do.
Obviously, they all share some form of mild insanity resulting from being in office way too long (delusions of grandeur).

In McCarthy's case, her husband was murdered by a criminal with a gun...if her husband had been armed (strictly prohibited in NYS except for a few politically connected persons), he may have been alive today. Thus, her phobia...but all her phobia will result in is more people killed by the criminal element.

There's another thread on TBN concerning term limitations for politicians. I'm a firm believer in that as term limits would reduce the damage politicians do to our freedoms.

Why would the Founders of this wonderful country have gave us the 2nd ammendment, if they did not think it was necessary to secure the long term survival of our individuals rights and the independence of the country? Ken Sweet

Back to the gun issue is their a good reason for a 30 round clip? just asking, is that some thing hunter or farms would let go?
Five reasons off the top of my head:
1. Hunting hogs, they are a nuisance animal which runs in packs, run into the brush quickly when shot at and does lots of damage to crops. Having 30 rounds available at a time means that you will get more and lessens the chance of one running off into the brush to die of a gut shot.
2. Shooting coyotes or similar canines, again they run in packs, run into the brush quickly when shot at and do lots of damage to herd animals
3. Shooting at a range, generally it is bad form to be at a station while reloading, so having a larger clip lets you shoot more before reloading
4. Think of post Katrina New Orleans, groups of thugs running around trying to loot. 10 guys and a 30 round magazine is 3 rounds each
5. There are literally MILLIONS of them around, a ban wont make them go away

Do you there's no limitation on freedom of speech in the media? Heard **** or he!! in the last news cast? You get my point I hope. So limitation is acceptable.

Would SOME limitation be acceptable on gun ownership? Maybe no AR15, maybe no huge clips or locked when not in use or carried? Just a maybe would be nice.

Nope, other than felons and certified crazys should not own ANY fiream.

Why did the founders of our country legitimize slavery and deny women the right to vote?

The Constitution and Bill of Rights are not the Ten Commandments. There is a process specified for making changes. There is also a process for interpretation of the constitution and most of the discussion on gun control is focused on interpretation rather than change.

This a free forum and everyone has the right to post almost anything, regardless of what country you live in. However nobody is free from criticism for what they post. Seems when there posts that are negative about a country, it is Canadians, Brits, and Australians (all important allies on on the world wide stage) doing the criticizing of Americans. It always comes down to the fact that we are too free, and not socialized enough. Sorry, MOST of us would like to stay that way. We declared independence in 1776 and we aren't going back.

The founders of our country used their rights (Gun rights) to defeat a tyrannical government and create this great nation. The Bill of Rights is not used to grant us these rights it was put in place due to the anti-federalists concerns that without calling out these specific rights the Government would violate these rights. The Second Amendment was put in place so that if the People were ever faced with another Government that became a tyranny the people could again stand together to overthrow that tyranny. The right to bear arms is a natural right as is the other rights in the Bill of Rights and is granted by no man. The right to protect oneself and ones family at the forefront. This right does not limit one to the weapons of the time of the framing. The argument that some use is that if the founding fathers would never have put it in place if they knew about semi-auto weapons and full auto rifles is flawed. Many soldiers brought there own weapons to the war and these in many cases were far better than the issued weapons of British soldiers (they were not asked to give them up after the war). It is all about the ability to defend oneself from threats no matter if they come from the a criminal a foreign or domestic government.

You two are doing a fine job derailing the topic. The mass shooting, metric vs SAE, winning a war with the US, etc...

Would it be impolite to ask that you allow us to return to the topic now? The topic is not about if the US should confiscate, it is about HOW other countries did. If you cannot speak to this please do not feel the need to post. Further derailment is just rude.

I agree. If we knew how they get to confiscation maybe we can prevent it from happening here. The left tends to take liberties just a little at a time, so we won't notice.
