what does your electricity cost?

Before putting in solar panels last year, I looked into this. There are websites that list the cost across the country. I believe that $.11/kwh was average for the country but it varied alot. I wanted to run the numbers myself on the benefit of going solar and not counting on a salesman's numbers. In NY, solar panels are a steal, at least last year they were.

Where did you end up getting your panels from? Online or local? Any good sites you found for research? I'd love to tell National Greed to take a hike.

Well you guys all have a great rate!

Here in NH on PSNH (Public Service NH) we are paying $.18 per KWH total taxes services and fees, and our average daily KW is 22KWH or 650 KWH per month. So our bills are $115 average a month.

The electricity cost and the delivery costs are pretty close to 50/50. We could go with another electricity supplier and save .015 per KWH or maybe $9 a month.

$0.10 per KWH including taxes and fees. All of our plants are coal fired and produce energy more affordably than any other method as long as the current administration keeps their greedy mitts off of it. Matter of fact, our electricity was so UNFAIRLY affordable that the Entergy customers in MS and LA had surcharges placed on AR utility bills to compensate for their more expensively produced electricity. It shows up on my bill as FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) imposed fees. My costs increased almost $0.02 per KWH when they pulled this. You're welcome LA and MS. They complained that electricity provided by the same company in a neighboring state was cheaper, not even taking into account the production costs may be different.

The rate from our coop on this month's bill was 11.6 cents calculated by dividing the whole bill by the number of kWh used...not great, but since we're a coop, we do get a little back each year in the form of Capital Credits. The interesting part is that the actual energy charges per kWh are .05474 per kWh, and the rest is delivery, cost adjustments, taxes, etc. They're definitely making the money this week, with the cold and snow here.

Our "rate to compare" is $.0587 per KWH. In 2012, our actual net rate (all fees, etc.) has ranged from $.1282 in July, to $.0597 in December.

I suppose all the electric companies do something similar to my billing from TXU Energy in Texas. It shows a "base charge" of $4.95 (I have no idea what that means), then an "energy charge" (kWh x $.067), then a "delivery charge" and a "gross receipts reimb" and finally "sales tax".

But I only consider the total bill divided by kilowatt hours, and that does vary a little month to month. However, the total annual average for 2013 was $0.113082 per kWh. The first bill of 2013 that I just paid was $0.1084299 per kWh.

I am supposedly on a 12 month contract at $0.104 per kWh, but that doesn't include taxes, and maybe some other charges.

Latest bill from Philadelphia Electric (PECO) jumped significantly due to their elimination Jan 1 of the 40% discount for winter heating
in all electric homes. My consumption was down a third from last year, and it said the average daily temp was the same, 40 degrees, but the bill
was way higher.

My bill says I'm paying a rate, the number "to compare" of .0869 per kw of power.
How does that compare to what you are paying?

Boy am I glad I redid the windows, insulation and siding a couple years ago. Brought my consumption down significantly, but sadly apparently my
bill will do nothing but go up.
Thinking of moving to that area. What type of heat? Heat pump? What is your average monthly bill?

OOOOppps. Never mind, I see you already answered it.

Here in the Sunbelt, the smart thing to do is go solar and never look back.
We have a 10.3 system with a mix of older (3 year old) 30 BP panels with 18 newer panel (this spring) with built in inverters.
It has eliminated our electric bill, well we still get one but they owe us.
This is on a 3000 sq ft home. Well insulated plus double pane windows.
TXU settles up monthly now for what we put back in the grid at .750 per kWh.
TXU charges .1290 per kWh plus the extra charges.

With our two CNG powered vehicles, a 2011 Honda. A 2004 F150 crew. I feel like telling big oil & OPEC where to stick it.

You can expect high rates in the NE, where they outlaw natural gas drilling. In the midwest, where there is an energy boom, rates are down. Here we pay around $.10 calculated total bill / usage.
