Most of the 7.3's will make 300k with this problem tranny you speak of
both mine are beating that number quite well.
Which one is beating 300k?
The one with 130k or the one with 190k...?
It's not like golf where the lower number wins.
as far as i know.. neither of the trannies in my 2 have been repaled. the 450 is just about to hit 130k and the 350 is on 190k...

A friend of mine has been the head diesel wrench at the Ford dealer for more than 20 yrs. He calls the a "maypop". As in "it may pop at any time"

You replied to my statement clearly arguing you don't agree with me that these trannies won't see 300k without repairs and try to back it up with claims of far less mileage.

I hear ya. My '99 is closing in on 290k and I'm on my fourth transmission (could be five...I've lost count.) The engine runs great, but it's getting harder and harder to keep up with the leaks.

I'm just curious are you putting stock transmissions back in. I would have to look at a good heavy duty aftermarket auto after the second transmission failure. It would be cheaper to put a good aftermarket in don't you think? I do have to say though not my expertise I'm a manual transmission guy my 2012 2500 dodge has the G56 6 speed.

Yeah I don't want to hijack the thread but it has been an amazing truck so far. Which I can't complain too much about the 2002 7.3 I had it had 280,000 on it before I had to put the first clutch in it. Now ball joints for the 02 are a different story 110,000 for the first set 205,000 for the second and 81,000 on the 08 6.4 f350 ball joints.

Start a new thread, we need more threads on trucks working well and not just breaking. :laughing:
That 02 7.3l was a good truck, back when the stick shifts got more HP than the slush-box autos. (275 vs 250)
