22 Ammo Shortage

Tried to buy some 22LR ammo online today and none of the big sports stores had any in stock. Cabela's told me it won't be till the end of the month before they have any for sale. What's causing the shortage?

What's causing the shortage?, The gun grabbing liberals are causing it. That and the patriots stocking up for the revolution. Most all ammo is out of stock, at least the common stuff.

Interesting status report from Valley Guns in West Virginia :

Status of gun industry

Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY UPDATE: We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told.

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

Remington: Maxed out 750-800 weapons a day

Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's.

LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. My local Hardware store still has plenty. I still have a few years worth here at the house. A box of now lasts me years, since the kids moved out.

Well I doubt that military and law enforcement is grabbing all the .22 production and I doubt that the manufacturers can switch those lines over to centerfire. BUT with sky high prices on all ammo, I suspect many people have switched to shooting .22s instead of centerfire. I know that I have. Even though I'm fairly well stocked up on all calibers, I can't bring myself to go out and shoot much CF ammo at a replacement cost of 50-90 cents per round Besides, I've rekindled my interest in rimfire.

Look at this link...apparently Homeland Security and other government agencies are ordering billions of hollow point rounds and that ties up the production lines at the manufacturers also no reloading supplies available..

Why is government stockpiling guns, ammo?

Golly Folks, don't you realize that our "Dear Leader" - good ole "Skeeter", needs all the ammo at camp David. Why he is up there all the time blasting away at those clay pigeons. I'll bet someday he may even hit one. Then there will be a shortage of clay pigeons. :laughing::laughing::laughing:
