The "Perfect" Burger

Dang! I find this thread, get all hungry for burgers, then remember it's Friday, it's Lent, and I married a Catholic girl! Fish or cheese pizza tonight. :(
Old joke about that.

I've never marinated ground beef in soy sauce, but something we used to do on a hibachi grill on the apartment balcony when we were first married was to cut round steak in strips an inch or so wide, marinate at least a couple of hours, but usually overnight in soy sauce, in the refrigerator, and then cook it over charcoal on the hibachi. It would be pretty salty but it's pretty good eating with a salad and hot rolls.

I need to remember to buy some round steak and do that again.

Ok so how many of you have ever tried a "Steamed Cheeseburger"? I don't believe I have ever seen them outside of Connecticut. Very good every once in a wile. Steamed takes most of the fat out of the hamburger but keeps them Juicy and full of flavor. Need a good sharp cheddar over the top.

I just got through looking them up on Bing (instead of Google) and even found pictures of the steamer chests. I'd never heard of such, but the pictures of the burgers certainly look good. I've no doubt I'd like those.:)

I have my own chest but before I picked it up I would make them in a pot putting the meat and cheese in an egg poacher. Little on the small size but it works

DABSGT,

I have traveled to and spent time in Meriden and Middletown CT and this is the first time I have heard about the steamed CB. Sounds interesting so I looked it up and I guess its like steamed dumplings or similar.

I think i will stay with grilled - like you I have the Weber Summit with sear burners for burgers and steak done medium rare.

And Bird - just a little bit of soy and for 10-15 minutes it adds nice flavor and I dont use salt or pepper.

Carl,

I love burgers on the summit as well but next time you pass through you really need to try they are good nice slice of onion on a fresh roll.
Maybe we can get bird to travel to the north east for taste.
Are you near highland or crystal lakes?
