We had a sheriff deputy a few months ago that gave his kid a bit of cocaine from the office for show and tell. Still employed as far as I know. I don't trust cops or elected folks or the schools.

Chief, over the years I have dealt with a few navy boys, drunk, stupid, junkies you name it, does that mean all navy personal are idiots?
Please just because of one stupid sheriff don't distrust all cops! Oh by the way thank you for your service I respect all members of the military always have and the few idiots I run into on the job give any break I can but don't lump all in the same bunch.

We used to do that as a lecture demo in the physics dept.

It is interesting as a teaching demo, but I believe even my cheap little "shooting Chrony" electronic chronograph is far more accurate than a ballistic pendulum.

That would not go over well here in Maryland  where we had a child suspended for chewing a pop tart into the perceived shape of a gun.

I am glad your school and teacher obviously has som common sense...

I hear kid in Maryland it's being proposed to prohibit hugging in the school. They will eventually take the fun out of school, then they will have to figure out why so large a drop out rate. -kid

If I had stayed in Colorado, I wouldn't be able to teach my grand sons how to shoot with the gun I learned on. It is now banned because it holds so many bullets. Who would have thought a 22 semi auto 17 shot sold at
Western Auto would become an assault rifle?

I "think" he meant that in the original post, Tornado wrote Sandy something else-it has since been edited to say "Sandy Hook"

But, R8nger sure could have written just a few more words to explain that and not appear to be a hit-n-run poster...

OK, that was probably why he posted it that way, if so I do apologize, sincerely. I'm sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

Ah the good old days before chronographs were in every handloaders kit. Back in 1972 we did a science experiment similar to the above only we used a block of maple firewood hung from the chains of a swing-set that had a hole drilled in the bottom with a felt tipped pen stuck into it. A piece of adding machine tape was clipped on a curved board under the block and when the round was fired into it the pen recorded the amount of reaction from the impact. We used 30-30 30-40 Craig's and 30-06 to have the same bullet weight at different velocities. I took my dads 30-30 to school on the bus for my part in this after showing "NO brass _No Ammo" to the driver at the door and sitting in the front with the little squirts. That was OK as the driver told hunting stories all the way to school.

Would that have been a Revelation brand, probably made by Marlin? That was our best seller in my Dad's Western Auto Store and I drooled over them every day after school. $35 or $40 in the late 50s was out of reach for me.

JMC,
Yep, that's it, a Revelation. My dad bought it after my brother was born and we fought over it when he came of shooting age. It still works meticulously.

Think of it this way, nowadays you would make the national news for bringing that rifle on the bus.

Wow.....haven't heard that gun mentioned for a long time. I have a single shot .22 Revelation rifle sold through Western Auto. We found it in the attic of a house when I was a kid. Still shoots well....restored the stock a few years back......looks real nice.
