My wife and I went shopping for hand guns and setteled on a Sig SP2022 9mm. We went to the local range and rented 8-10 different guns and both liked the Sig the best. My wife amazed me with how fast she took to shooting the hand gun, her first time. She was drawing center mass from 7 yards on her second clip.

I have been having a bear of a time finding ammo. Walmart..etc is bare. I have found a little on the internet and got 500 rounds at the last Houston gun show for 28 cents a round. I am wanting to keep from 800 -1000 rounds in my inventory. Now I am thinking about getting a second 9mm for our condo in downtown houston so I don't have to drag the Sig back and forth.

I am also thinking I want an AR-15 type weapon for the ranch and may get one when or if the prices drop a little. Any suggestions on a brand or model rifle?

I have a friend who just puchased a High Point; he is very enthusiastic about it. They are very reasonably priced, and you can get them in a 9mm. I am considering one of these; simply because you can get it in a pistol cartridge. There are some other high dollar stuff out there, if you are so inclined.

Welcome to Hi-Point Firearms!

A sig is an excellent gun, I know you will enjoy it.

Congratulations on your new handgun. Ammo is sure hard to find reasonably priced. My son's fiance bought a Sig P290 yesterday and fortunately we had some on hand.

I don't know a whole lot about the AR platform like many on here, so I bought a Colt several years ago then Sig 556. My sons had different brands and they all seem to work fine.

AR's are in short supply in most areas;if they are around they want a premium.Same with .223.9MM ammo.Good luck in your search. You may want to look at the Ruger Mini 14 also.

I would suggest looking at a Ruger mini-14 as well. I have one in a tactical version (yes the evil black rifle). I carry it with me on the farm. Coyotes don't like it much. If I was buying an AR-15, I would look at a S&W M&p 15

I have been on the waiting list for a Sig 566 patrol for over a year.

Sig is a great weapon, I carried one on duty and still have it today.

Sure you want an AR for a "ranch gun"? allot of $ for something to drag around the acreage. I'd find something cheap and durable, like a 30-30. at a local pawn or similar.

I also have had several Colt AR's, top brand to me, but there are many good manufactures now, Daniel Defense, Noveske to name a couple.

You should go to AR15.com and read read read.

I agree with Western, a 30-30 or even a 10/22 Ruger (second hand) if you plan on dragging it around.
