They sure look like they've been there a while! Does the owner hope to restore them eventually?

Looking at these reminded me of an old-at-the-time dump truck I saw when I was a little kid, late 40's. Loud chains (like motorcycle chain) drove the rear axle. The main thing I remember was a busy racket from the chains. A light but intense clatter at only a few mph, very different from gear noise.

Ductape- Nice -That 761 Brockway is a "Huskydrive" as signified by the two huskys. that was brockway's answer to the Maxidyne. The took an 855 cu. in. block and gave it the Maxidyne "treatment" -broad RPM range1200-2100. this let them use a 5 or 6 speed trans.

Where were these taken?

Here is a nice Ford collection-took the pix last week as I was helping this guy load out a 1915 P & H crane-care to guess where this was?

correct, the huskidrives were an option that could be ordered which would equip your truck with a PT270 Cummins, and a 5 speed, with a switch on the dash for 6th gear. Very hard to find, and super hard to find in a 700 series!!

All those pics are from John Deere 55's (the O P) yard..... I had no idea he was a member on here. I went to look at something else he had for sale and discovered the goldmine he had there. Good thing I had my camera. Not farmiliar with the Ford collection, but it looks like another nice place to poke around.

I'm not farmiliar with the HuskiDrives. I assume J D 55 knows what a rare truck he has there.

May be hard to see the chain and drive sprocket ahead of the rear wheels, but this ole Sterling is chain drive.

Interesting info. I have driven Mack's with the 235/5 speed and a Cruseliner with a 300/5 speed with a deep reduction swich on the shifter. The 300 came after I got out of a long nosed R700 (Hayward, CA plant) with a 250/15 speed and an F model COE with a 318/13 speed. The 300 had enough power (still slow on the hills) that it almost felt like an automatic after all of that shifting.

I also drove a 74 Diamond Reo with the 270 Cummins mated up to a Spicer 7 speed. That 7 speed had an unusual shift pattern where you would drop to the lower left then forward again for some of the lower gears. I think it was for low reverse and low low? The engine had a Jake and it really helped to drag down the RPM's to get that Spicer shifted. The company that had the truck was in doo doo so I got to looking for greener pastures. The company found out and canned me! The driver they put in the next day took out the Spicer pretty much right out of the gate, lol!

Anyway, kind of heart braking to see that old iron rusting away. Guess we can't save everything?
