Oil & Fuel I put car gas in my Kubota diesel!

I have in fact done this, and it did ruin the motor. Ran Jet-A through a two stoke motor in an emergency, and while it did run, thick black oil poured out of the exhaust until it quit. Piston and cylinder were scored badly.

I don't doubt that.

But... There is a difference in using the wrong fuel by mistake then doing something about it and running the wrong fuel 'til she blows.

In your case I guess you didn't have a choice.

Isnt that what they call straight gassing a 2-stroke (running with out oil in mix)? I would bet that's what fried it.

Jet-A is a closer relative to diesel than gasoline. I had to run the motor on half choke to get any power out of it.

A buddy was fueling up somebody else's chainsaw found in a cottage shed during an emergency (at night, no lights). Apparently, you can get lots of sparks off the blade when you put fuel in the bar oil reservoir.

Yeah.... it really was a buddy of mine, not just me in disguise ;) !

My buddy is actually one of the smartest people I've ever come across - in this context, to do with anything technical. (As there is more than one kind of smarts, IMO......).

Yeah, point being.... it can be pretty easy to goof up something that should be straight forward.... been there myself a few times

BUT a
two stoke motor
is not a gas burning vehicle, it's a gas AND oil burning vehicle. If you had put straight gas in it you would have had the same scoring problem.

One of my children filled the tank on a 5 hp 4 cycle lawnmower with diesel. Couldn't start it. I must have pulled 50 times before I smelled the tank. Dumped the diesel out, put in fresh gas, ran fine for years.

I was working at a gas station near the beach years ago when some guys pulled in with a nice center console fishing boat. You could really tell they were excited to get off shore. So, one of the guys took off the fuel cap for the built in tank, and started to fill the boat with gas. It was a big tank, so he latched the nozzle. After about 5 minutes, I walked out to the pump island to find them talking about who was going to catch the biggest fish. When I glanced into the boat, I saw their cooler moving about. FLOATING!!! It seems that the guy stuck had the gas nozzle into one of the built in fishing pole receptacles (right next to the gas tank filler tube). They had about 120 gallons of gas in this fiberglass boat (with styrofoam flotation built into the hull).

Kinda makes a little gas in the diesel, not such a bad thing. Doesn't it?
