Completed mine on line a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't that bad....most of the info was on my tax return.

For those that are reluctant or refuse to fill out the census and send in on a timely manner...I would just say that you are just costing us tax payers more money. Someone will be calling or coming by your home to complete the census. It's the law and the Government employee is just doing their job. So, please fill out your census and save me some money.

PS: Who's to know if you put accurate info in the census. :D

Well....actually yes. It's more garbage that goes in the land fill. But on the positive side. You are killing more trees which increases the value of my timber and more jobs for the paper industry, it creates jobs for the garbage and land fill people, it keeps that Gov't worker in his job "attempting" to complete the census, who in turn spends money and keeps the economy going.
You are right you aren't wasting money you are keeping the economy going. The bad part of all this is it's tax dollars you are using to keep the economy going.

Did mine online. However, when I visit my local FSA, I understand why some want to reduce funds for the agency. 1. It seems like most of the forms and paperwork are created just so the workers have something to do. Especially since there is so much duplication.

I am not ranting about the employees. I am referring to the useless paperwork mandated by the federal level that is so evident in all our branches of federal and most state agencies.

Speaking of the census, not the agriculture census, the 2010 overall census.

It was my understanding the only information I am required to provide is the number of people residing at my address. That is what I provided, at the time my answer was 2. When the part time census employee came by in person I let them know that was all that was required and they didn't question me any further.

The question that bothers me the most about the US census is about race. I honestly don't know what I would put down for race for my son and I don't understand why the government should be asking me what his race is.

Census Answers are Required by Law – Federal Law Requires Honest Answers to Questions on the US Census

Updated August 06, 2012
Fines can be Imposed
While it is the last thing they want to do, the U.S. Census Bureau can impose fines for failing to answer the 2010 Census questions or for intentionally providing false information.

According to Title 13, Section 221 (Census, Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers) of the United States Code, persons who fail or refuse to respond to the mail-back census form, or refuse to respond to a follow-up census taker can be fined up to $100. Persons who knowingly provide false information to the census can be fined up to $500.
So far the Census Bureau has offered no indication that it actually intends to charge violators or impose these fines, but if you fail to complete and return your 2010 Census questionnaire, a census-taker will be paying you a visit.

Any references to support claim that only number of people in household is required?
