Thanks for the October 2 update. Sounds like progress is being made in solving the crime.

A Franklin County burglary victim says some of his belongings have been recovered. Sometime between September 20 and 23, thieves took practically everything from Brian Hamilton's home on Meadow Lane in Metamora.

Hamilton, who lives alone, tells Eagle 99.3 he was out of town on personal business at the time his home was cleared out by thieves.

Hamilton's pet, clothing, vehicles, washer, dryer, a gun safe, televisions, furniture, even his paper plates and trash can were taken by burglars. Hamilton suspects that the thief had help, making at least four or five trips from his home using three trailers that were also stolen from his home.

He told Eagle 99.3 today that he has a good idea of who took the items and it was somebody he personally knew. He declined to give names, saying he did not want to hinder the police investigation.

I think it was a vendetta kind of thing, Hamilton said.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department has not announced any arrests yet. A representative of the department said that the case is still under investigation Wednesday.

After the burglary, Hamilton said he began canvassing town seeking information. After visiting just three houses, he learned that somebody was trying to sell his stolen belongings.

He got out and started beating the bushes, Hamilton said. I don't think (the thieves) were very smart about it.

The thousands of dollars worth of belongings, Hamilton believes, have been dispersed in various locations because the possible thieves did not have room to store them.

A stretch limo taken from his home was found Monday morning totaled and abandoned less than a mile away abandoned on Davidson Road, Hamilton said. That limo has been impounded.

However, his stolen American bully dog, Miss Kitty, remains missing.

Hamilton said investigators may escort him Wednesday to identify some of the possible stolen items that have been located.

If he's got his life, "everything" must mean "things". Either way, too bad, that's pretty shiitey.

Sounds like some "pertinent" details are somewhere in the abyss, some one felt pretty darn comfortable spending a day loading "stuff". Obviously they knew his schedule too. Top that off with "no arrest" although some items have been recovered,,,hmmm, makes ya wonder. Could be a case of "coming back to bite you in the $%#"

And everyone claims the "bully breeds" are such vicious killers. This one didn't deter the crime. I hope the dog is OK when/if they find it.

Everybody needs a game cam. Guess it may not be good because I know what I would do if I know who did it.

Even better is a WiFi Camera that sends you an emailed picture when the motion detection is set off. Some have infrared for night and are less than $200. It uses your home WiFi router to connect to the internet. They might steal it, too, but it has already sent you an email.

I keep thinking that the thieves were probably wearing "fluro" shirts... have you noticed that no one questions people wearing bright orange/yellow 'safety' shirts or vests?

Heck, you could nick almost anything and others wouldn't pay any attention 'cause "They were wearing fluro-shirts and a plastic helmet, they must have been from the Shire Council or some company."

I knew some guys in college that furnished their apartments with stuff from the dorm lounge areas. They would put on blue coveralls, just like the real employees wore, walk in and carry out chairs, couches, etc. So yes, the right clothes will get a person a long ways without suspicion.
