Next spring I want to get a Box scraper. What size is good for a L3800? I want one to make a lawn, right now its rocks timothy and wild roses etc. Was going to do it this fall but I was afraid of the frost hitting soon, oh well I guess not.

Slightly Wider than the outside of your rear tires... if you have a lot of rock, you don't want to get too wide...

Five feet is the correct width. Buy the heaviest Box Blade you can afford. 600 - 700 pounds would be my recommendation for the rocky soil in Mass.
As you have a Backhoe, perhaps you can get by with a Ratchet Rake on the FEL bucket ($350) rather than a Box Blade, which will require you to remove the Backhoe.
Photo #1 is my Bush Hog (brand) Rollover Box Blade, 587 pounds. Photos #2, #3, #4 are the Ratchet Rake.

Nice box balde you got there. Ratchet rakes look good but I have high and low spots all over so I thnk I will stay witha box blade. I have never had the backhoe off yet but I gotta do it some day. Always threatening to drop it a d go in the woods for fire wood.

I just got a roll over box blade. Its the Bush Hog - 72" wide. Its just a little narrower than the rear tires (tires - 80,, robb - 72) but I'm finding it to be one of the handiest implements I own. I find the scarifiers do a great job of cutting thru the thick sod here and open my small garden plots without the need for moldboard plowing. I go directly from the scarifiers to the disk plow.

When I went looking for a box blade earlier this year for my B3200 (I'm also in MA) - I took everybody's recommendations into account : look for something heavy, get the correct width, a rollover blade is good - or get retractable rippers - etc.
After looking around for quite some time - and looking seriously at the rollover blades - I ended up deciding to get something with retractable rippers. Problem was - I couldn't find anybody that made one in the appropriate size for my B3200. Then I came across Cammond. So I ended up getting a 60" blade from them - with hydraulically retractable rippers. They even painted it orange for me to match the tractor.
If I remember correctly - the one I got was from the 2C1 series. You can go up to a 2C2 if you think you need something with more weight. They were great to deal with and shipped it out by truck freight. I just had to go down to the terminal and pick it up. All in all - no more hassle than buying from a dealer.

FYI, I did all this with a York rake (with wheels)... Found on CL for under $500. Just a thought

My L3200 is the same as your L3800, just 6 less HP. I'm liking my 500lbs 72" King Kutter box blade.
I'd have loved something heavier and/or a rollover box blade, but this was the best bang for the buck. I may still end up strapping a railroad tie or 2 ontop of it for more weight. It takes a pass or 2 on the packed gravel driveway to start getting past the ripper teeth & filling the box. It's marginal in the dirt without the rippers, but pretty good with em down.
