I just found your thread, fantastic home!!! I look forward to watching it to completion.
Add me as another Wow! Great stuff, jk. :drink:

Thanks guys. The framing is coming along nicely now and its great to be able to walk through the rooms I've been looking at on paper for months now. The exterior walls should be up by the end of the day tomorrow and interior framing on the second floor should be done by the end of the week if the weather holds. I'm really looking forward to getting the hallway framed on the 2nd floor so that I can see the scissor trusses I had made up in the air.

We ran into one issue in the upstairs bathroom. Just not quite tall enough for the shower in the location we had planned. Looks like we will elimate one of the two windows and move the shower. The new layout will be fine and will approach something similar to what Eddy proposed earlier in the thread. I also wasn't thrilled with the housewrap used. They wrapped the gables before standing them and looks like they used a "Porters" home improvment wrap made by Guardian. Just looks and feels cheep. I'm sure it's probably fine but I'll pick up some better wrap tomorrow for the rest of the house for some peace of mind.

James Hardie makes the best house wrap out there. It's a bit more money, but once you compare it to the other brands, you'll see the difference is worth the cost.

I picked up some Typar wrap. They needed wrap for today and was the best of what was available. There is a huge difference in quality between it and what was used on the gables. Here's a couple of pics after todays work.

The T&G started on the ceiling yesterday and should be finished up tomorrow. We are now praying to the weather gods as the insulator won't be here until next Thursday. Right now it looks good. No chance of rain anywhere in the 10 day forecast. Roofing felt will go on after the T&G is finished to help protect it just in case. As soon as we get the roof over the timberframe insulated and sheeted we can start running rafters on the rest of the home.

Looks great! How long are those pieces of t&g? Looks like they run ridge to eve! That's fantastic. That is one of the things on my to do list right now. Shopping for t&g.

They are 16' and do run ridge to eve. We are really pleased with how the color came out and really helps show the timbers. I'm also thrilled that the staining process is over and glad to get this stuff out of my shop and out of the way.

Hi Tom.

We finished with two coats of minwax english chestnut 233 and one coat of polyurethane. We used a sprayer to spray everything then just wiped off the excess. The sprayer was a lifesaver.

We felt the same way when we did ours. Of course, we had a friend lend the use of HIS heated barn so we did not have to take up OUR space. :D

Yeah I am figuring on 3600 sq ft of t&g. I don't know where I'm gonna put it and not looking forward to finishing it :-/

Well worth the effort though.
