Ol' Dez seems to have a talent for making a butt of himself. Even though he may have meant well, he only succeeded in causing his teammates to be angry at him instead of the opponent. On the local news, you can hear him telling Tony Romo that they are the "best" in the NFL. C'mon Dez! Does the best in the NFL not even try to get a first down on their last clock-killing drive. What was that? The running plays were telegraphed almost as clearly as Romo preparing to take a knee. The Cowboys quit before the clock was used up. Congratulations to the Detroit Lions who didn't quit playing until the last buzzer. It's nice to see a team that will not accept mediocrity like our Cowboys and coaches. It doesn't matter how good you think you are, Dez. When you don't play to win until the final buzzer, you lose. Period! End of story.

It may be a character flaw on my part, but I find myself rooting against certain teams. I used to be indifferent as to the Cowboys' fortunes, but I now take pleasure in their woes. I suspect it's due to my perceptions of the attitudes of the players and Jerry Jones.

I am not a football fanatic, but I can see the very good reasoning for not going at it hammer and tong as the saying goes. Why risk getting one of your players injured in the last few second of a game in a free for all if you can run out the clock with a winning score. It makes no difference if you win by one point or 8, you still win which is all the statistics show at the end of the season: WIN/LOSS record.

Gary, if they had been ahead by 10 points, I'd not disagree. However, the Lions had shown how well they could pick apart the Cowboy secondary with an all-too-common play by Calvin (glue hands) Johnson. Maybe he should write a book called "81 Ways Around Your Defense." Matt Stafford to Johnson had been an extremely successful formula all day long. Stafford was having an excellent day. Many of his passes were strikes that just slipped through his receiver's hands. How Dallas could even consider leaving them with a minute on the clock is just proof their lack of situational awareness. One first down would have let the Cowboys run out the clock by taking a knee on every succeeding down. They squandered their chance and Stafford made them pay with a perfect long-ball strike. The best team won that game.

Dez's sideline passion is about #167 on the list of the Cowboy's worries right now.

Brian Waters out for the season = horrible, horrible news. We cannot put together one year lately without just being crushed by major injuries. It's hard for ANY team to close out games when you are putting UNDRAFTED guys out there as deep safeties, expected to cover guys like Megatron. :(

Since the Cowboys can't seem to pass to Dez if he is double covered, maybe they should make him a deep safety and see how good he is at playing jump ball.;)

He catches darn near every single one that is tossed up to him as a jump ball in the end zone... so I bet you're right! Run that kid on both sides of the ball! He obviously has enough energy leftover when he comes off the field from offense!

Yep, I don't know if the rules would allow it, but I think I'd have had Dez in on every down of Detroit's last drive just to try to offset Johnson's superior height. You sure can't fault Dez's ability. That one catch in the end zone with one hand holding the ball behind his back was nothing short of spectacular. Hey, if you can give the ball to Refrigerator Perry, why can't Dez go on defense in special circumstances?

They definitely would've had him in there if it was a Hail Mary situation. A lot of teams do that in those scenarios at the end of games.

But, too, at some point your DBs just gotta man up and play! Sheesh!

When it comes to last Sunday's game....I'm kinda at a loss for words. I left to go pick up pizza with 1:33 on the clock and the Cowboys in the lead and with the ball. I walk back in just in time to see Stafford putting the ball over the goal line.

PATHETIC! Hey, that's the word I was looking for!
