Well I see nothing has changed since I looked at Deere, have to drive 50 miles one way and 80 the other to get past the local John Deere mega chain. I was looking at a puny utility tractor and not a big farm tractor so I did not count either.

All I can say is down with these super mega franchise dealers.

The closet Deere dealer to me had 3 tractors in stock the last I was there. 2 1025r's and a 2320. All of the JD dealers here a small.

I think some like to have a monopoly on their brand.

I can think of a equipment dealer that has 17 locations.

The OP's dealer should go back "in the closet".

I'm looking to get my first tractor, and after looking at the BX-25D and 1025R FILB, I decided on the Deere. The only problem I'm having is with my local dealer. When I asked for a quote, the salesman came back with $22,348 before tax. When I told him that I was aware that other dealers sold at less than retail, I was told, "If you buy from another dealer, we won't service your tractor for you." I really don't care about having a dealer service my tractor...what does concern me is any warranty work that may have to be done in the future. I'm in Colorado Springs, but will now go anywhere to get a tractor. I will definitely not be buying local. Can anybody recommend a respectable dealer within 500 miles of Colorado Springs?

Just walk in, open your wallet, then assume the position:laughing: That's what they are used to, and expect.
Seriously though, go look at another brand of tractor, buy from somebody that will appreciate you business.
When I was ready to buy a tractor, I called the local JD dealership and asked for a quote on a 4135 with a backhoe and loader, guy says "I don't have that in front of me right now I'll call you back in ten min", he never called back.

My Dad bought a new 970 back in 96 or 97, from this same dealer, after the first winter he decided he wanted a cab of some kind, so he went down and talked too them about it, they said they would look into it and call him, guess what, they never called him, so he went to another Deere dealer 50 miles away and bought the cab.
The next year he took it in for some warranty work, and they asked him why he didn't buy the cab from them..He told them he tried to.
I've got another story about a DR trimmer I wound up buying online instead of the JD dealership because of the "attitude".

I had picked up a brochure from them, it had a sale price on the model I wanted.
They said if they honored that price it would be "in the box" To me that meant if they couldn't stroke me on it, they weren't going to touch it.
So I bought it online for the same money and had it delivered to my door for free.

I wound up buying and orange tractor and am very happy I did.

Good luck to you

Yeah, really. I looked hard at the 1026R, but for the money several other brands had slightly larger tractors, and i just couldn't argue with the value aspect. And the others have drive-over auto-connect decks too (without some of the growing pains Deere has experienced on the new 1-series). So don't feel locked in to Deere just because of auto-connect. I have a Deere and a Kubota, and they both offer good choices in different size categories.

I don't know which manufacturer has the autoconnect. Kubota doesn't, and I don't think Massey and Kioti do either. Pretty sure that is a Deere exclusive for the time being.

And it works just fine. The only times it doesn't work is when the dealer tech doesn't set it up correctly....

I知 surprised to here about the dealer in Colorado Springs. I searched and got price quotes from other Deere dealers and other brands. I found the dealer in Colorado Springs was very competitive and great to deal with. I ended up purchasing my tractor from them and have no regrets.

I have been in the retail selling game for twenty plus years and it all comes down to the salesman you talk to. I was a salesman for several although not in the farm machinery business and we are like everyone else. we have days that everything is going wrong and aren't in good moods. i know as a salesman that when someone starts beating me up over price and starts telling me they can get it somewhere else cheaper somewhat arrogant like it hacks me off. we are people with feeling and families to feed also.
