Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I have had several pairs of the blue/black mechanics gloves and they were good for what you pay for. I have had "Mechanix" gloves before and they are better but you can buy 4 or 5 pairs of the HFWestern Safety for the price of one pair of the "Name brands". The only fault I had with the HF gloves was the fingers came apart @ the seams if they got wet...I wore them rolling up landing gears on trailers and fueling the truck . I still buy them if I catch them on sale..
I prefer the nitrile gloves when wrenching now. Easier to pick up small parts and oil, hydro fluid, grease etc doesn't matter, just throw them in the trash when the job is done..Item #68491

I went in and tried on the blue/black mechanics gloves. I immediately felt they are for a different work environment from what I do. I generally put on gloves for orchard work, for handling weathered lumber (tree props), for handling blackberry bush and rose debris with thorns etc, and even for brief small welding projects.

After trying those I still prefer the 'Roping Gloves' mentioned above - thin split cowhide tanned yellow, with red hem. 1) As natural leather they conform to my hands after a few uses, feeling like impervious natural skin, and 2) by comparison to the blue/black gloves there isn't excess finger length to get in the way.

I agree the nitrile gloves are what's needed for working around grease or fuel. Also around paint, roofing tar, adhesives.

So that can't be used on sale items right?

Yes, you can use on sale items but no, not on coupon items. Also can't use on toolboxes, etc. Read the fine print. One coupon per day.

What's the item # for your Western Safety gloves ??? HF search on 'gloves' returned 73 matches. I'd like to try them.

I like the #35166 cowhide 'roping gloves' for working outdoors.

I buy a bunch when there is a coupon special, and a pair lasts about 6 months handling orchard debris, rough lumber, etc. They are soft and become like a second skin yet so durable I can tug on blackberry bush canes without getting punctured.

I have big hands and it os hard to find leather gloves that I don't wear thrpugh the fingertips pf in a few days of log splitting, whether by hand with maul, wedge, and sledge; or with the hydraulic splitter (more common these days) and the roping gloves are the exception. They are great, soft and pliable, but also very durable. I really like the blue and black mechanics gloves too, but I do wear the finger tips of these out pretty quickly when splitting, but for other chores they ar excellent.

Look for coupons for the mechanics gloves 'cause they go as low as $3.89 occasionally.

those leather gloves look nice, though I wonder if they would stain your hands. Had a pair just like that, my hands sweat say running a chain saw, and when I take the gloves off, my palms are stained yellow. And not easy to get out. And who knows what chemical it is that is coming off on one's hands...we all know how China fastidiously controls its chemical industry...:confused2:

I have never had that happen to me withvthese gloves, and I have very sensitive hands that sweat extensively. I have had to throw out some of my waterproof gloves because of the sweat funk they developed, like some other peoples gym shoes I can think of. (I know TMI right?!?)

I just want to say I have been buying from Harbor Freight for at least 35 yrs. and one of the greatest days for me was when they opened a store a couple of years ago only 15 min. from my house...Yeah ! I was in candy land...;)

I know what you mean, my last job (for the past 7 years) was about a mile from their nearest store (which is about an hour from my house), which I loved, and my wife hated.

Now, it's only rare we go near enough for me to go there, so the individual receipts are getting pretty long, as I catch on my purchases.
