I doubt any B7800 owner will get any better fuel advice than what has been shared here.

Buy a YELLOW fuel container and mark it "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" with a black Sharpie so that others will not try to add it to their car or truck gas tanks. You might even have to put that message on the canister. Same for the tractor. If someone puts gasoline into your tractor tank you are in for a LOT of trouble.

To the OP, the issue of lubricity is that the Ultra Low Sulphur diesel mandated after 2007 might not have enough lubricity for the fuel system in an older engine. Required or not? You can probably live happily without any additives but if you want to be 100% certain, then an additive may help in the long term.

Here is a good thread about the issue and some extensive testing. Some additives are worthless, some are useful:

Other than that, diesel is pretty much diesel, no matter where you buy it. It's best to buy it at a high volume pump to avoid water in it, but other than that, it's pretty much the same. Off road/farm "red" diesel is absolutely the same as on road diesel except they add red dye to it and it's a bit cheaper because the taxes are less on it.

yeah if you want to simply add lubricity.. just dump a small bottle of two cycle engine oil in the fuel.
Have been using this for years with great success. Try to stay away from MMO and ATF as a fuel additive. It worked great 20 years ago but not really for todays fuels and fuel systems.

There is a lot of animosity toward biodiesel in the community, but using a B5 diesel (5%) blend is not bad according to many of the studies that I have read. The biodiesel adds lubricity but at the B5 level it does not create the negatives that higher ratios can create. The added lubricity of the B5 replaces that which was lost with the ULSD that was mandated some years back.
