Question - If a PTO generator is hooked up and running, the operator gets off the seat the PTO/ tractor shuts off. How would you bypass the seat safety switch so the generator can operate?

Does it shut off if it is in neutral with the brake is set? My 2550 is too old to have these annoying things so I am just guessing here.

You suppose to be able to get off and flip the seat up within about 3 seconds which I could never do so I disabled/bypassed the annoying seat switch. With all the other safety switches I could see no purpose other than to annoy for the seat switch. I see you have GL-40 so you will have the same switch as mine. Unplug the switch below the seat and jumper the 2 terminals of the tractor plug to trick the tractor into thinking you are sitting on the seat.

You can start the tractor with the seat up (or flip the seat up after you get the tractor where you want it.) This will disable the safety switch, and then you can engage the PTO for the generator at that point.

I do this all the time for my wood chipper.

Like kuboman said jump it. I just stripped about 2 inches of wire wrapped it around the blades on the switch and plugged it back in. Leaned forward in the seat loading at the dealership and it shutoff, first thing I did when I got home.

Used a wire tie to keep the seat switch making contact.

I used to tie the back of the seat back with some bungie cords on my 4010 because its under seat switch didn't work. Jumpered its switch, and the underseat switch worked for a while. Then I went back to tying the seat back.

On this 1025, it has all sorts of safety switches. Gotta have the PTO in "rear" position. Gotta have the parking brake on. Engage PTO when not in seat. The lawyers have found all sorts of ways to annoy us.

On my 4240 I made a momentary switch in the dash that when pushed bypasses all the safety switches. It allows me to get up and flip the switch forward and if I want to move the tractor slightly when standing next to it I can push the button and operate the hst pedal by hand.

On my l3200 I just took a zip tie to the sensor lever under the seat. Easy to push it all the way down & keep it there with a zip tie. Otherwise it would die when I touched the HST pedal when standing to get a good look at the end of my pallet forks.

10 seconds to undo if I ever sell it or otherwise want to.
